Job Description:
This role requires Canadian Enhanced Reliability Security clearance [a minimum of 5 years of consecutive residency in Canada].
The Corporate Applications Solutions (CAS) IT team is looking for an SAP S/4 Engineer with strong analytical skills and expertise in SAP S/4 HANA ABAP/4 development to become a member of SAP Centre of Excellence.
The person in this role will be designing, developing implementing and maintaining RICEFW objects utilizing SAP S/4 HANA technologies including but not limited to ABAP/4, OData, Fiori and CDS.
The role will work with business analysts, designers, architects, business partners and project management to understand the requirements, and design reporting solutions that meet the business needs.
Within the operations support component of the role, you will be responding to incidents, service requests, problem solving, maintaining stability, performing technical implementations, coordinate activities and work together with the team members and vendors to maintain, enhance and customize the supported systems and components.
What will you do?
- Develop SAP RICEFW objects in accordance with the user requirements and unit-test/deliver as per the project plan.
- Provide estimates and contribute to defining timelines and project plans
- Support requirements gathering of the end-to-end solution development for Fiori, S/4 HANA embedded reporting and Group Reporting.
- Assist the functional project team with draft of functional specifications for Standard FIORI, S/4 HANA data models and views.
- Provide the functional team with the necessary guidance of the SAP-provided enhancements (implicit and explicit ones)
- Work on change and service requests as well as defect fixes across the AP, FA, GL, and integration modules
- Performance tracing and optimization (for the existing RICE objects)
- Work with project management to document and communicate risks and issues.
- Work with onshore, offshore and 3rd party development teams to ensure coding, testing, debugging and implementation activities are completed as required
- Ensure alignment to Sun Life SDLC and internal standards and compliance
- Transition projects and enhancements to Operations
- Support our operational team as needed with problem analysis, resolution, escalation and reporting
- Collaborate closely with our internal teams (e.g. data architects, designers, business to business, business intelligence/reporting, server management, etc.) to deliver solutions for business needs.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training or work experience
- Proficient in the development of RICEFW deliverables (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms)
- 5+ years’ experience with ABAP 7.4+ (including Object-Oriented ABAP, New Enhancement Framework, OData services, SAP Workflow etc.)
- 7+ years’ experience with RICEFW objects in SAP
- 2+ years’ experience with SAP FIORI and UI5 technologies (Basic FLP configuration, standard apps’ activation, UI5 applications architecture, basic JavaScript, Front End debugging)
- Prior experience with SAP FI/CO or Group Reporting/BPC solution, as well as business knowledge in the areas related to accounting, controlling, planning or general Finance
- Expertise in system integration, job flows relative to data integration
- Experience working with large volumes of transactional data, performance tuning of the ABAP applications
- Familiarity with SAP authorization concept
- Experience developing SAP S/4 HANA CDS Views
- Working knowledge of relational and OLAP databases
- Experience with SDLC methodologies: Agile, Waterfall
- Experience working with application vendors and building solutions involving integrating vendor applications into existing environment
- Experience with creating effective design documentation and diagrams
Other relevant assets:
- SAP Certified Developer
- Experience with SAP AIF, Design Studio, ChaRM, Ariba, Cloud Integration Gateway, CIG, Analysis for Office, AfO, Analytics Cloud, SAC
- SAP Basic Understanding
- Familiar with SAP Data Migration tools – LSMW and LTMC
- Familiar with DevOps Tools (Git, BitBucket, Gradle, Jenkins)
- Knowledge/experience with Linux systems
- Knowledge/experience with scripting languages (e.g. bash, Windows scripting, Powershell)
Notes / unique requirements:
- Occasional work outside of normal business hours as part of a global team (quarter end, year end support)
- Occasional weekend work in support of project delivery and implementations
- Occasional travel may be required depending on work assignments

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
