The WorkLink Employment Society is recruiting a full-time Marketing and Events Specialist. This is a 14-month Maternity leave position with the possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will work up to 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary range between $29.73 and $30.62 per hour. This position is suited to a team-oriented professional who is self-motivated, efficient, and confident. Travel may be a requirement of this position in addition to evening and weekend coverage for community events located in the Westshore and Sooke offices.
About the Society:
WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal and Metchosin) since 1978. In 2008, our services expanded to include the communities of Sooke and surrounding areas including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T’Souke and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through both federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in the Province of BC, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from leaders in the community.

About The Position:
The Marketing Events Specialist works as a member of the marketing department and labour-market information team members to ensure all service delivery channels are utilized in their roles; Centers; Outreach; and WorkBC / WorkLink Virtual. The Marketing Specialist must ensure that all clients will have access to high-quality services, for which the Ministry Policy will be applied, in the same way, regardless of where or how services are accessed.
- Actively coordinate and participate in staffing information booths at external community events in alignment with the agency Employer Outreach/Service Awareness & Marketing Plans as delegated.
- Assist new employers who may require numerous new applicants or employers experiencing difficulty recruiting staff to educate about the services available through WorkBC / WorkLink (Job boards, Wage Subsidy Placements, Job Search, Customized Employment Opportunities, and other financial supports.)
- Complete all marketing/advertising plans, including the negotiation of long-term advertising campaigns.
- Coordinate all marketing requirements related to general and targeted career fairs.
- Coordinate meetings and recruitment rooms for employers to hire and orientate new staff.
- Create marketing materials adhering to the graphic standards guide outlined by Ministry.
- Ensure compliance with all external agency/funder body graphic standards.
- Follow up and complete detailed evaluation of employer forums, career fairs, open houses, and agency information sessions.
- Liaise with News Media to pitch story ideas highlighting the success of clients and the needs of the Society.
- Monitor and provide input on all social media platforms.
- Oversee all social media and website accounts as content and layout administrator.
- Post regularly to all WorkLink and WorkBC Westshore/Sooke websites and social media platforms and assist in the provision of content for these media.
- Provide monthly reports on all promotional/marketing activity for the Board and external funders.
- Provide photography at events and job sites for use in publications and photo resumes.
- Provide tours of WorkBC/ WorkLink Centers for employers to better understand the services being offered.
- Support the fulfillment of the Employer Engagement & Communication Strategies.
- Support the WorkBC / WorkLink Operations Team in the communication and marketing of all services as outlined in the agency Employer Outreach Plan and the Service Awareness and Marketing Plan.
- Visit community agencies to promote WorkBC / WorkLink Employment Services including Customized Employment, Wage Subsidy, Job Postings, and Job Fairs, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to create unique content to promote WorkLink programs/services
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical tools and content marketing management
- Creativity and digital design skills
- Demonstrated excellence in professional writing/communications product development, (e.g.: engagement and communication plans, new releases, backgrounders; publications content; speech writing; web content etc.)
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills
- Experience with digital marketing tools, SEO, SEM, and proficiency using a variety of software such as Microsoft, Adobe Creative Suite, other digital marketing tools,
- Experience with digital communications, social media outreach, and strategic engagement
- Experience with WordPress and other web platforms
- Responsive design/marketing skills
Credentials/Requirements:
- A degree in communication, marketing, public relations, and/or a related field.
- A minimum of three (2) years of related work experience in marketing and Events.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with barriers to success
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check; and valid BC Driver’s license.
- Demonstrated design competencies and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
