Main Purpose & Function
This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating projects through all City review and approval processes, which involves the preliminary assessment of moderately complex projects and assessing project issues and overall viability of proposals.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary contact for a project, and maintains constant liaison with project teams having a review/approval function, the project applicant and their representatives
- Organizes and coordinates public consultation processes and handles queries and comments from interested citizens
- Chairs public meetings, explain projects to neighborhood groups, and coordinates public presentations of other staff members
- Establishes and oversees a schedule for project processing, coordinates detailed project reviews by project teams, and also schedules, chairs and documents coordinated review meetings
- Ensures that resolution is reached on project issues, facilitates the resolution of conflict between review staff, applicant and community if required, and facilitates negotiations of conditions of approval and clearances
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a University degree in Planning, Architecture, or a related field and sound-related experience in urban development and/or project management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience in a related position with project coordination work of a technical and regulatory nature
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough of the processes, roles, and responsibilities in the review and approval of projects
- Considerable knowledge of municipal processes, City by-laws, and roles and responsibilities in the review and approval of projects is an asset.
- Ability to gain cooperation and support of individuals with divergent expectations and objectives and to negotiate changes
- Ability to coordinate team meetings, provide direction to members and establish responsibilities and commitments to schedules and target completion dates; to manage, chair and speak at large public meetings having controversial subjects under discussion
- Ability to meet transportation requirements
- Ability to make presentations to official bodies and community groups
- Ability to interpret complex agreements, coordinate and prepare reports and to coordinate multiple projects in various stages of development.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
The City’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination against COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the City deem it necessary to re-introduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
