About The Peel Community Collaborative (PCC) Brampton Food Hub
The Peel Community Collaborative (PCC) Brampton Food Hub is a collective of long-standing nonprofit food agencies in Brampton that came together to support the growth and sustainability of each agency and work collaboratively to fight hunger and food security.
The Collaborative was founded in 2022 and is guided by the framework that strong and healthy food systems are built on collaboration to effect change at the community level. The partners include All People’s Church, Basket Brigade Canada, Bethel Outreach Community Services, Knights Table, Free for All Foundation, and Punjabi Community Health Services.
Our mission is the management of a food warehouse and distribution space in Brampton to facilitate the efficient collection and distribution of large amounts of donated and purchased food and complimentary items (e.g., hygiene products, school supplies) to agencies. And our vision is, through partnership, we will increase the amount of healthy and culturally appropriate food available to vulnerable members of the Brampton community.
About The Opportunity
The Forklift Driver must be a skilled individual with excellent attention to detail. The individual must have at least two years of experience as a licensed forklift operator transporting goods throughout a warehouse using the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety in the facility.
This full-time position is based in Brampton and reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Compensation
$45,000 annually.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
· Load, unload, ship, and receive materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and transport them to assigned places.
· Locate and move product stock and pallets for storage.
· Transport materials to different locations within the facility.
· Optimize loads to ensure operational efficiency.
· Secure loads before transportation.
· Pick, build, and wrap orders for community delivery/distribution.
· Perform quality checks on all inbound and outbound food products and complementary items.
· Weigh food products and record weight or other production data on labels or tags.
· Manage inventory by utilizing scanning equipment.
· Manually pack stock in the stockroom/warehouse as required.
· Observe and comply with quality, environment, health, and safety procedures.
· Carry out regular checks and maintenance on the forklift.
· Collaborate successfully with other staff on inventory needs, scheduling, and efficient operation of the Food Hub.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
· A minimum of two years of experience as a forklift operator.
· A high school diploma or college certificate.
· A current and recognized forklift permit.
· Successful background check.
· A recent WSIB certificate, and training in first aid.
· Knowledge of all safety measures for forklift operation.
· Experience supervising entry-level or volunteer warehouse staff.
· Proficiency in operating technical and industrial machinery and RF scanners.
· Must have knowledge of and experience with basic computer systems and inventory software.
· Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
· Good excellent verbal and writing skills.
· Excellent physical condition and hand-eye coordination.
· Previous experience working with a social agency is desirable, as is experience with food handling and safety.
