Job Description
Reports to : Chef de Cuisine.
SUMMARY
With a passion toward service of excellence for residents, families, guests and team members, the Dining Room Host is responsible for: attending to all the dining needs of our residents. Serving meals, pouring beverages, clearing tables, and communicating with the Kitchen team for a smooth and seamless service. Additional responsibilities include organization of pre-meal service tasks, keen knowledge of dietary restrictions and alternatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
It is the Dining Host’s responsibility to provide outstanding service to our seniors and guests
- Be responsible for ensuring that Rocky View Foundation policies, procedures and guidelines are followed in the food service area for quality assurance and safety.
- Follows proper food handling procedures.
- Maintains Food Safety Certification.
- Assists with Rocky View Foundation functions as required.
- Ensure all temperature sheets and checklists are completed and up to date.
- Maintains and sanitizes work area and all related equipment.
- Practices safe and proper use of food service equipment.
- Adheres to specific job responsibilities as outlined.
- Identifies maintenance needs and submits work orders as appropriate.
- Attends all staff meetings, safety meetings and department meetings and reports as required.
- Interacts with team members, residents, and families in a positive, caring, and constructive manner.
- Performs all tasks in accordance with Rocky View Foundation safety procedures and requirements.
- Ensures adequate supply of all items required for service.
TEAMWORK:
Cares for and actively participates and assists other team members to achieve and maintain a responsible atmosphere of resident centered care and service excellence.
DOCUMENTATION
Accurate, comprehensive, timely documentation in the department Communication book.
- Accurate, timely and professional documentation the Resident Communication book, including resident care, emergency management and family notification.
SAFETY:
Maintains certification of CPR and First Aid.
- Demonstrates desire to gain knowledge of all residents, occupational health and safety and emergency preparedness and response to all Rocky View Foundation policies and procedures.
- Identifies and mitigates unsafe conditions in the work environment, including immediate reporting of any unsafe conditions.
- Demonstrates the mission of Rocky View Foundation and lives out our vision.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES INCLUDE:
Understands, follows, and applies all Rocky View Foundation Standards of Conduct.
- Demonstrates a passion for caring toward residents, families, and team members.
- Coordinates with team members to ensure that all required tasks are completed daily.
- Communicates any equipment issues to Chef de Cuisine, Manager and Maintenance personnel as required.
- Polite, spirit of service to residents, families, guests, and team members, while performing job tasks.
- Accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of any maintenance requests.
- Accurate, timely, professional documentation in the department Communication book.
- Accurate, timely and professional documentation in Resident Communication book.
- Ensures proper storage and disposal of all food items.
QUALIFICATIONS
Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent
- Previous serving experience considered an asset
- Food Handlers Course, current CPR and First Aid
- Professional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Understanding of WHMIS requirements.
- A desire to work with seniors.
- Flexible, willing and possesses a positive attitude.
- A high standard of hygiene and personal appearance.
- Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
All full time staff are eligible for extended health benefits after three months of employment, and Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) after one year of service.
