Status: Full-Time Term
The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to assist the Human
Resources team in providing a range of core Human Resources services to workers and managers.
The Organization:
Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is the leading health care provider on the western James Bay coast. WAHA
is comprised of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA
also provides regional outpatient programs, as well as Paramedicine services in Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany,
Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Constance Lake. The span of services, complexity of care needs in the region, and the
depth of health integration has made WAHA a leader and a model of health care services in Northern Ontario. WAHA
consists of 450 employees, a Physician team, many students, as well as community stakeholders. It is affiliated with
Queens University and offers many educational opportunities for current and prospective team members.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for employee file creation, maintenance, and audit to ensure completeness and accuracy of
information.- Update file regularly to ensure current information is available
- Implementation and maintenance of the employee identification program to ensure employees are identified
accurately and that there is compliance with the identification program- Maintenance of relocation and travel programs in accordance with policies, procedures and directives
- Assist in the orientation process
- Co-ordinates the administrative functions for the Human Resources and Education team including the
establishment of internal protocols, tracking systems and administrative policies and procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
- Post-secondary education in administration or 3 years related experience
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation obtained, or willingness to obtain
- Relevant experience in clerical administrative supports
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, or a unionized environment is considered an asset
