Reporting to the Superintendent, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator, Claims Management and Labour Relations is responsible for providing claims, attendance management, and employee relations support for Teck Trail Operation.
To be successful, we require someone that is detailed-oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to coordinate and assist in claims management and labour relations. The ability to multi-task, manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment is crucial.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Support Claims Management Coordinators with issues related to occupational (WorkSafe BC) and non-occupational disability claims (self-insurance and SunLife)
- Support, assist and act as the liaison for short-term disability, long-term disability and hourly claims
- Assist with coordination and management of the stay at work and Gradual Return to Work (GRTW) programs in line with Collective Agreements and company policies ensuring regular medical updates are provided from employee's medical team through the GRTW plan.
- Support employees who are taking parental leave by advising on leave policies and preparing letters as well as reviewing and approving family responsibility leave requests
- Organize and coordinate meetings with claims group, employees, union representatives and supervisors
- Support HR Advisors with employee relations issues including grievances, investigations and disciplinary processes, as well as help prepare for arbitrations
- Provide Collective Agreement interpretation advice to all levels of supervision
- Support site’s attendance management program in collaboration with supervisors
- Assist in job evaluation process
- Complete research in a variety of areas in Human Resources
- Support and assist other areas of HR as needed
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field strongly preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
- General knowledge and understanding of Human Resources practices or processes including employment laws and legislation
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to maintain appropriate levels of discretion and confidentiality and deal with highly sensitive materials and situations
- Experience working with claims management in a unionized environment a plus
