This role is a key partner for leaders and a valuable resource for team members. The Manager will play an advisory role providing guidance in general HR topics and employee relations issues while working with management to identify HR action items necessary to support the operational strategies of the Center. Specific responsibilities will also include:
- Partner with leaders to create a culture of engagement that drives retention and encourages employee recognition
- Coach, develop and provide guidance to leaders on employee relations, talent development, coaching and performance management
- Handle team member concerns and ensure good relations between management and team members
- Facilitates and assists with implementing change management & organizational development activities
- Creates, interprets, and administers local policies based on corporate and operational requirements in accordance with legislation and best practices
- Manage all aspects of staffing including full life-cycle recruitment (job posting, candidate screening, interviewing, selection) and orientation; prepares hire and promotion documents
- Manage relationships with temporary staffing agencies
- Oversee the administration of payroll, managing another team member; ensure accurate information is processed for payroll & timekeeping so team members are paid accurately
- Identifies specific learning and development needs for team members; develops a plan and implements learning programs that align with best practices and business strategies/needs.
- Participates in the collective bargaining process, resolves labor relations issues including grievance procedures and contract negotiations
- Administer the local compensation program (benefits & pension programs and workers compensation) ensuring compliance with Federal/Provincial legislation and in accordance with company practices
- Responsible for employee data in global HRIS system
- Participates in special projects as needed; and other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:This role requires a bachelor's degree, advanced degree a plus. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum 4-5 years of solid HR generalist experience in a similar environment. Labor relations experience including grievance procedure & contract negotiations is a must; experience with Pay Equity is also required. Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent judgment, solid decision-making skills and ability to act with limited guidance to solve problems. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary along with the ability to express ideas and solutions with clarity; enabling one to build trust across the organization and objectively coach leaders & team members through complex and sometimes sensitive issues. Other qualifications include:- Effective project management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities with ease and composure while continuing to meet deadlines
- Prior hands-on experience with HRIS systems (Workday, ADP preferred)
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
