Job Description

DATE: July 13, 2023

POSITION: Community Inclusion Worker – Temporary Part Time

SALARY: $25.05 - $28.75 per hour (BCGEU, Grid Level 10)

LOCATION: South End Program, Clements Centre Building

HOURS: 30 hours per week

START DATE: As soon as possible

COMPETITION: SE-07-13-23-TPT(30)2 vacancies

CLOSING DATE: July 20, 2023 at 4pm or until a successful candidate is found

Job Summary:On both an individual and group basis, the Community Inclusion Worker supports the quality of life for the persons we serve by ensuring that their physical, social, vocational, educational and medical needs are met. The Community Inclusion Worker participates as part of the team responsible for implementing all aspects of the participant’s program, including agency policies, procedures and philosophy.

Education, Training and Experience

· Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent

· Three months’ experience delivering similar services supporting individuals with disabilities in community

· Valid WCB approved First Aid and CPR certification

· Food Safety Certification

· Basic computer skills preferably experience with Microsoft Office

· Class 5 driver’s license (Class 4 preferred) and own vehicle

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

· Knowledge of theory, values and practices in community living including support systems

· Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support and teach life skills to participants

· Ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team

· Ability to perform lifts and transfers of clients

· Effective interpersonal communication skills

· Demonstrated good time and general management skills

Advocacy

· To advocate for individuals and families so they obtain needed support

· To teach individuals and families self-advocacy skills

· To advocate for support and change within the systems that affect participants and their families

Personal Attributes

· Positive role model including modeling a healthy lifestyle

· Empathy, warmth, and understanding

· Ability to work effectively with families, staff, volunteers, and organizations

· Current, satisfactory criminal record search

· Physician’s health reference and Negative TB test

Please Note:

· The successful candidate will begin employment at the South EndProgram, Monday-Friday 9:00 – 15:00

· This position is open to all qualified staff and requires Union membership

· Applicants may request that a Union observer sit on the selection committee in the capacity of a disinterested party

· This position may become open to external applicants on the eighth day of posting

· If this position is advertised externally, closing date on external advertisement shall prevail

· This position will remain open until a qualified candidate is found

· May be required to use personal vehicle

· This position is subject to backfill for an individual on leave and will be cancelled with two weeks’ notice

· Successful applicant must acquire Class 4 Unrestricted_ drivers’ license in order to pass the three month trial period_

Part-time hours: 30 per week

Salary: $25.05-$28.75 per hour
