The Mental Health Worker provides a variety of housing and shelter services including case planning, programming for clients, assisting with daily physical and emotional supports, responding to overdoses, administering first aid and Naloxone, accepting referrals, registering, orienting, and advocating for clients who are vulnerably housed or experiencing homelessness. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in working with clients that may have been vulnerably housed in the past.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with your team to advocate for clients and provide them with client-centred support, including linking them in with external resources.
To succeed, you will have an excellent understanding of the issues faced by our client group. This includes experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who face multiple barriers, such as substance use, mental health concerns, low incomes, and negative impacts of colonialism and racism.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma in a related Human or Social Services field.
Experience
- At least two (2) years of experience working in a related environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Direct experience in the community social services sector with a working knowledge of community support agencies and resources is preferred.
Requirements
- Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C.
- Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.
Job Information
- Hourly Wage Rate $31.30 - $34.51.
- Please note: Base wage is $29.30 - $32.51. The overnight hourly wage rate includes the following premium:
- ON Premium: An additional $2.00 for all shifts worked that cross midnight.
- An additional $2.00 per hour worked shift premium will apply for all hours worked after a staff member has been moved to a different worksite during their shift.*
- please note, this premium is expected to remain in effect until the end of September 2023.

- Work Days Saturday and Sunday.
- Shift Time Saturday 6:00pm to 6:00am, and Sunday 7:00pm to 7:00am.
- Total Weekly Hours 24.

Portability
Candidate upon hire may be eligible to transfer the hours worked with other Community Social Services Agencies under the Retention and Portability memorandum. Some restrictions may apply.
