Public Relations & Social Media Specialist, National Consumer Shows
Blue Ant Media is looking for a full-time Communications & Social Media Specialist in its Communications and Consumer Shows division. This role will report into the Communications Manager with a reporting line into the Head of Marketing and Partnerships to support media relations and social media at the annual Cottage Life and Toronto Home Shows: Home + Reno Show, National Home Show, Spring Cottage Life Show, Spring Baby Show Toronto, Ottawa Cottage Life and Backyard Show, Fall Home Show, Fall Baby Show Toronto, Fall Baby Show Vancouver and Fall Cottage Life Show.
What You’ll Be Doing…
- Media monitoring and final coverage reports encompassing campaign highlights, media impressions, challenges and show post mortem recommendations.
- Drafting press materials including press releases, advisories, matte stories, op-eds, press kit contents, bios, etc.
- Manage and update press contact lists via Mailchimp. Pro-actively research new PR opportunities and ways to expand contact base.
- Identifying angles to pitch regional and national opportunities across various silos including retail, design, fashion, arts, business, lifestyle, gardening, real estate, baby/ parenting, travel, boating, outdoor living, environment and more.
- Media pitching and identifying thought leadership for spokesperson(s) and/or third-party spokespeople, including vendors, who can complement and enhance PR angles and narratives for Blue Ant Media’s consumer show portfolio.
- Working with the Communications Manager and Head of Marketing & Partnerships to identify influencers with like-minded focus including retail, design, crafting, small businesses, shopping, travel, local maker events, DIY, parenting, home renos and more.
- Work with Communications Manager to oversee talent relations at the consumer show events, preparation of key messages and talking points to conduct talent briefings.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy across multiple platforms that maximizes consumer show’s visibility and steadily grows its audiences.
- Overseeing PR and social media on-the-ground during all consumer show events.
- Manage multiple social media content calendars: planning, creating, organizing, scheduling, and posting content
- Write, copy, create visuals and schedule social media posts for multiple social media channels
- Engage with social media followers in real-time and provide reporting as required.
- Brainstorm to develop creative stunts, programming designed to attract younger demographics and engaging news-worthy spokespeople that are aligned with what is trending on social media and in the news.
What You’ll Bring…
- Established relationships with journalists and news producers.
- Strong pitching skills.
- An ability to display good judgment in decision making and correspondence.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Gmail, Google Docs and Google Spreadsheets.
- Candidates must be flexible and agile in terms of working in a fast-paced job with tight deadlines; we’re looking for someone who thrives in this kind of environment and has a great attitude.
