Manager - School Programs
Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver (BBGV) is a non-profit organization providing mentoring programs for children and youth. BBGV's mission is to enable impactful relationships where children and youth can discover their power and potential, in collaboration with our local communities. The Manager, School Programs takes a leadership role to managing school-based programs – teen mentoring programs; youth leadership program; and the in-school mentoring program; maintaining contact with school program partners, supporting Mentoring Coordinators with setting up and facilitating school-based programs, anticipating and problem solving around issues in school-based programs. This role will hold responsibility for file management, including review and decision-making for approval/withdrawal/rejection of volunteer applicants, and conducting file audits. This role will also ensure policies and practices are meeting National Standards within all school-based programs. The Manager, School Programs is also responsible for the direct supervision and support of staff members, and upholds the principles and values of equity, inclusivity, anti-racism and reconciliation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the key duties and responsibilities of the role:
1. Program Delivery: School Programs – Teen Mentoring, Youth Leadership, and In-School Mentoring
· Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all school programs in accordance with BBBSC’s National Standards
· Responsible for file management for all teen programs, including review and decision-making for approval/rejection, and conducting teen program file audits.
· Ongoing monitoring and reporting of the match numbers, and to provide program statistics and yearly projection numbers in consultation with the Program Director
· Ensure that the goals, guidelines and standards of the school programs are communicated to all involved stakeholders both within the agency and in the community
· Ensure paperwork, including forms, MOUs and info packages are up to date
· Connect with school program partner organizations/stakeholders to assess current needs and potential expansion of school programs. Respond to requests for new programs and accommodating where possible, to meet needs across all service areas.
· Evaluate school programs in consultation with community partners and stakeholders and the Program Director, and contribute to program enhancement.
· Support Mentoring Coordinators with school program caseloads in recruiting, interviewing, and training as needed
· Report to Program Director on challenges, needs and successes of school programs
· Work with Marketing and Communications to provide key group program summaries
2. Leadership, Staff Supervision and Development
- Participate as a member of the Program Leadership Team; contribute updates as related to school programs
- Responsible for supervising Mentoring Coordinators and other Program staff as agreed upon by Program Director
- Provide day to day guidance, support, and feedback necessary to ensure staff’s success individually and as a team, including case conferencing of files as needed.
- Conduct performance reviews with direct reports annually, as well as 3 month probationary reviews with new staff.
- Support staff's growth and development within the agency, in alignment with the Mentoring Coordinator Development Plan.
3. Other General
- Work with the Program Director to assure the fulfillment of Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver’s vision and mission through the strategic and operational plan in regards to school programs
- Deliver written and verbal report of Quarterly Statistics and Dashboard KPIs and Objectives to Program Director (and Executive Director, as needed.)
- Contribute to outcome evaluation initiatives and implementation of results for school programs, with Program Director
- Assist with grant writing by providing information on school programs
- Connect with National staff regarding new initiatives and guidelines for school programs, as needed
- Participate in appropriate community committees, as needed
- Other duties or projects as assigned by Program Director
QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the principal qualifications for this position:
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in social work, family studies, psychology or other related field; or combination of equivalent education and experience in a related field.
· Minimum 3 years experience in a management and supervisory role.
· Strong understanding of BBBSC National Standards and BBGV Service Delivery Policies and Procedures, specifically as it relates to BBGV school programs - or demonstrated willingness to learn and master understanding.

Salary: $58,500.00-$60,000.00 per year
