To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for an Occupational Therapist to support our Rehabilitation Department at our Mount Sinai Hospital.
The caseload for this role will include patients across all acute care areas: inpatients on the Psychiatry unit with a variety of acute psychiatric and geriatric psychiatry conditions, general internal medicine, surgery, orthopaedics and emergency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of a staff Occupational Therapist are primarily clinical. However, all Occupational Therapists at Mount Sinai Hospital are expected to participate in teaching activities with the University of Toronto and seek a status appointment. The staff Occupational Therapist is encouraged to participate in research activities that are aligned with patient care, inpatient unit and/or organizational goals.
Clinical Duties
- Assessment, planning and therapeutic intervention for an assigned patient caseload according to Occupational Therapy scope of practice
- Appropriate documentation of Occupational Therapy activities
- Record workload measurement
- Participation in inter-professional clinics and rounds
- Facilitation of therapy groups
- Program development and evaluation
- Supervision of OTA/PTA’s as per college guidelines
Teaching Duties
- Participate in teaching activities for Occupational Therapy students, including provision of clinical placements, laboratory teaching, and classroom teaching
- Participate in teaching students from other disciplines
- Participate in development of student programs
- Provide in-service education as appropriate to colleagues
Research Duties
- Participate in research activities as appropriate within the Department of Rehabilitation in collaboration with other departments/professions
Job Requirements- Currently registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario in good standing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent occupational therapy clinical skills with a broad variety of diagnostic groups
- Demonstrated excellent skills in collaboration with inter-professional team
- Excellent facilitation skills to provide therapy groups, functional and cognitive assessment, comprehensive patient focused discharge planning for adults with a variety of complex medical and psychiatric/mental health problems
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
