Position Summary
Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the Online Marketing Specialist is responsible for writing and editing content for the college websites by liaising and meeting with internal stakeholders. The incumbent is also responsible for the on-going maintenance and upkeep of content for the college websites, in addition to the development of interactive HTML 5 components for the college’s corporate website, Intranet, and other college related sites; ensuring that web pages created are cross-browser compatible, accessible and well formed.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and performs all approved updates/changes to all college website properties including: content, images, video and all related digital media
- Assists and works with internal stakeholders to produce college features and special event web pages in addition to providing non-technical support, programming services and advice concerning the planning, lay-out and design of new web pages.
- Develops web-based forms, iFrames and such with the use of database technologies.
- Assists the Senior Online Marketing Specialist to ensure all revisions to the websites are accurate, exceed department standards, business requirements, ensure brand consistency and are displayed in a user-friendly online format
- Assists the Web Administrator in developing ASP.NET templates, and website style sheets (CSS) for all web properties.
- Designs, develop and edit video for use on the Intranet, Internet, myCentennial studentHUB and other Centennial sites.
- Maintains online communications for college news, featured stories, and events pages.
- Reviews and responds to user feedback and directs enquiries to the appropriate department for information or resolution.
- Ensures that graphics selected and developed are strong representations of the underlying theme of each web page
- Ensures college web pages are accessible to search engines, maintains meta-data information for all pages, maintains a current site map, registers with Search engines, SEO (search engine optimization) and keeps abreast of changing search and accessibility technologies.
- Assist with the development and creation of programmatic web display ads.
- Using Google Web Designer assist with the creation of animated programmatic web display ads.
- Coordinate, film and edit a variety of Centennial College videos.
Qualifications/Experience
- Two (2) year diploma in Computer Science in addition to training in Web technologies or Multi-media, or a related area of study. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum (3) three years of practical work experience with client technology, content management systems, web development, and interactive animations using HTML5, Photoshop, and JavaScript. Experience with content creation and corporate communications is a must.
- Relevant experience with HTML5, VB Script, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP, JSP, SQL, MySQL, CSS, JQuery, Photo Shop, Flash, inDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Freehand
- Experience with current mobile technology development and other relevant software programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving/analytical skills with a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated flexibility to adapt and work with new processes and changing technology.
- Flexibility to effectively handle multiple tasks with concurrent/conflicting deadlines within given objectives, work plans and deadlines.
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment
- Experience with photography using a D-SLR
