Senior Operations Manager
Reporting to the President of Roswell Downhole Technologies (A division of PADM Group of Companies) as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Senior Operations Manager is responsible for all operations at the Calgary manufacturing facilities. These functions include Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Logistics, Quality, Maintenance, Health and Safety, and Facilities groups. Skilled at strategy execution, the Senior Operations Manager works closely with the President and is responsible for operationalizing the strategic and tactical plans of the company.
Responsibilities include:
Working closely with executive leadership, ensuring that business results are meeting plan targets, and put programs and initiatives in place to ensure continued growth;- Providing leadership and mentorship to the operational leaders;
- Working in partnership with the Finance team, ensuring that financial results are meeting plan targets;
- Working closely with the executive team, playing a key role in the development and execution of the strategic business plan for the division;
- Ensures that annual operational plans are developed and implemented in support of the strategic plan;
- Ensures that adequate reporting structures are in place to support both executive and operational management in decision making;
- Ensures that quality systems are in place and operating effectively to maintain delivery of products and services to customer specification;
- Lead and direct the process of continuous improvement and operational excellence to improve processes and product and service outputs. Actively works to foster a results-oriented innovative culture;
- Ensures that training programs are in place to maintain professional certifications and to ensure that staff are properly trained in core operating procedures;
- Leads and coordinates the provision of QC and QA support to the business;
- In collaboration with Human Resources, plays a leadership role in staff development and mentorship processes;
- Prepares annual budgets and forecasts for approval;
- Actively work with the production and maintenance teams fostering a Health and Safety culture.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree in engineering, science, or business;
- 10 years progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Green or Black belt certification is an asset;
- Experience managing in a multi-unit/multi division environment;
- Knowledge of supply chain operations and concepts;
- Experience in quality systems such as ISO 9001;
- Experience setting up new operations or expanding existing business operations;
- Experience leading or implementing Lean Operational Excellence initiatives;
- Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and mentor a high performing team;
- Able to build effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, and customers;
- Ability to operationalize business plans and make changes as needed;
- Demonstrated budgeting and forecasting capability;
- Project management at the enterprise level;
- Manufacturing lay out and work cell design;
- Superior communication and presentation skills.
