Role Summary
As a Physician Assistant, you will work alongside the Clinical Director and assigned Physician’s to provide care to our patients requiring our services with a responsible and professional approach. The Physician Assistant integrates the skills and knowledge in the Medicine practice. You will be working collaboratively with Fertility Nurses, Sonographers, Medical Office Administrators, Lab Technicians and other health care professionals.
Role Responsibilities
- Supports the Clinical Director (physician) as an extension of the supervising physician within the physician patient relationship as guided, performing controlled acts delegated by physician
- Patient assessments including a full history and conduct physical examinations where necessary
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director, nurses, professional staff, etc., to ensure the quality of patient care
- Request and interpret diagnostic tests (ie: laboratory, X-ray, ultrasounds, etc.) and communicate results thoroughly to patients
- Develop ethical, professional, and trustworthy relationships with patients, families, and the health care team
- Provide patient care in a manner that is consistent with Charm’s mission and reflects core values
- Administrative tasks including the review and audits of abnormal labs and imaging reports
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized physician assistant program or equivalent
- 1+ years equivalent experience in a similar role, it is an asset if you hold a Obstetrics and Gynecology degree
- Membership with the Canadian Association of the Physician Assistants is an asset
- Current appropriate level of life-support training (e.g., BCLS)
- Ability to work in an interprofessional healthcare environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to function collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and practice in a self-directed manner
