The Project Coordinator will be joining ER Steel at an exciting time as we have multiple new projects commencing. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for assisting the Project
Manager with Commercial/Institutional/Industrial construction projects (up to $15 million+ value) throughout the entire project lifecycle, from design stage through project completion and turnover, and will be responsible for all administrative and technical assistance aspects of the project scope and services.
The Project Coordinator will work with Business Development and Marketing in supporting their initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Services: Undertake basic project management services by assisting Project Managers in items that include, but not limited to drafting of project proposals, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules and updating programs and contract documentation to track progress and quality of work on the project.
- Manage the change management process for all changes during design and construction phases, including, change order tracking, logs, templates, and issuance.
- Initiate and seek approvals and documentation to support the change order issuance.
- Coordinate the information from designers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely information exchange.
- Engage in design, management, and construction meetings, including the preparation of detailed meeting minutes.
- Proactively manage project issues on the accounts.
- Maintain excellent communication, coordination and cooperation between all stakeholders including Client, Consultant, Construction, Design, and Client Team.
- Engage in client and project team meetings.
- Engage in client presentations and with external consultant meeting.
Technical Support: Review site reports and draft monthly update reports for clients as part of billable deliverables.
- Generate project management reports to support the Project Manager(s) and the project deliverables.
- Review, coordinate, and track to ensure contract deliverables are achieved.
- Maintain all project documentation, database, logs, and records.
- Assemble, maintain, coordinate, and follow up on project action items lists.
- On occasion, conduct field reviews and site visits to inspect project progress (overnight travel may be required).
Business Development & Marketing Support: Supporting business development and marketing by aiding as required and directed by VP of Business Development.
Position Requirements:
- Graduate from a Diploma/Degree program in Architectural, Project Management, Construction or Civil Technology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Science or in a related field.
- 5+ years of practical experience in construction, commercial real estate, or related field.
- General understanding of Commercial/Institutional/Industrial projects throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Basic project management skills required with knowledge and understanding of commercial and contractual issues.
- Strong people skills with the ability to interact with executive level internal and external clients.
- Organizational and detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of the business.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use and application of all project management technology as required for assigned projects.
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Project, Excel, and Word.
- Understanding of the construction industry; development, contracting & consultant services.
- Operating across a range of sectors - Commercial/Institutional/Industrial.
- Experience in the Conventional or Pre-Engineered steel industry is an asset.
- Data manipulation/Organization is a prerequisite.
- Experience working at a consulting firm (billable environment) is an asset.
- Basic understanding of standard forms of contracts for construction and real estate industry.
- Valid driver’s license.
Salary, benefits, and bonus package are competitive ($75k-$90k), up to $110k for a Senior PC.
