JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- Works with internal clients proactively and reactively to plan and respond to requirements for
additional workspace to accommodate the expansion or centralization of teams, new capital
projects or growing business requirements
- Leads complex negotiations between business groups with competing requirements for
workspace in BC Hydro’s at or near capacity buildings
- Engages building occupants, management and BC Hydro’s Interior Design contractor to identify
opportunities for additional density
- Provides project management expertise for workspace projects, including interior renovations or
upgrades, fit up and decommissioning of new buildings or leases
- Liaises with BC Hydro’s Interior Design contractor, General Contractor, Furniture Suppliers,
other trades and internal clients to design high functioning and collaborative workspace
- Works with BC Hydro’s Property Leasing and Sales department to ensure office leases align
with current and projected workspace requirements; provides input into selecting lease locations
that align with projections
- Makes recommendations for best-use of space from an organizational perspective; seeks out
cost savings by identifying low or no cost solutions to address design challenges and/or
improvements to workspace in support of BC Hydro’s focus on affordability
- Develops and implements businesses processes to improve the internal customer experience,
department’s overall operations and efficiency
- Supports the development and implementation of the next generation of workspace design and
optimal usage for all BC Hydro employees to accommodate more flexibility in the future
- Develops and reinforces the Interior Space Standards for all interior projects, while also making
updates or developing new standards to reflect evolving workplace requirements
- Research workspace trends, including reducing individual workstations and growing shared
workspaces, the introduction of multi-functional workspaces, and allocating workspaces based on
the needs of individual workers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors level degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience managing/running projects and engaging with multiple
stakeholders
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with the Project Management Institute
(PMI) would be an asset
- Experience in fields of expertise within an electric utility or equivalent environment with
experience in project management, facilities and/or workspace planning would be an asset
- Experience managing an integrated project team for interior design construction projects,
including: interior designers, contractors, electricians, furniture suppliers, design managers,
mechanical designers and engineers would be an asset
- Persuasive influence and conflict resolution skills, including demonstrated experience in
negotiating, consulting and engaging multiple stakeholders with competing interests
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization, including demonstrated experience working
with senior management and executives
- Exceptional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including business case
writing, briefing notes and proposals
- Ability to effectively manage shifting priorities and deadlines within a high volume environment
- Well rounded knowledge of business processes, budgets, forecasting and project management
techniques
- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Please note a condition of employment for this role is to maintain your Class 5 Driver's License
in good standing.
- Please note this position requires travel throughout the province for up to one week at a time, as
well as evening and weekend work, as required.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
