Prima Contracting Inc. is a General Contractor that participates in all facets of construction including multifamily residential, mixed use, commercial, industrial and tenant improvements. We provide services to builders and developers across all stages of construction, from design through to commissioning and occupancy.
Given our growth plans, we are seeking a Project Coordinator / Project Manager to lead the Kelowna and Vernon projects with a primary focus on safety, schedule and budget.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team. The role is hands-on and will require a strong back ground in occupational health and safety, project management and organization as well as construction administration. They will be accountable for effectively planning, delegating, coordinating, purchasing of materials and training.
To succeed at Prima, you must be organized, results driven, energetic, personable, well poised, and solution oriented. You will need to be comfortable understanding and executing policies and procedures. Currently Prima, has ongoing projects throughout the Okanagan Valley, Kamloops and Northern British Columbia. This position is based in Kelowna, BC.
Must haves:
1. A strong understanding of the Worksafe BC Policies and Procedures
2. A level One First Aid
3. A awareness of the cost implications of design alternatives
4. Ability to deliver construction schedules and budgets
5. Be a Canadian citizen, or have Permanent Resident status
6. Strong understanding of construction sequence
7. Strong negotiation skills
8. Commitment to safety
9. Ability to learn quickly and produce results.
Required Experience
1. Site Safety and safety training
2. Hosting meetings, preparing minutes and delegating action items
3. Coordinating and scheduling field staff
4. Reviewing designs, maintain architectural and design controls, and provide constructability input
6. Managing and resolving field issues or disputes
7. Providing Contract Administration support and/or direction to staff
8. Ability to forecast site requirements and organize materials and equipment

2. Manage and monitor all facets of the assigned projects to ensure, costs, quality and scheduling is maintained
3. Have unwavering ability to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work
4. Be creative as it relates to effective solutions to design constraints

6. High performance individual with a strong sense of urgency
7. Highly organized, solution-oriented, aptitude for multi-tasking and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
