Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Water Quality, the Senior Project Lead is responsible for supporting the implementation of our Water Quality objectives and environmental regulatory commitments across our four open-pit metallurgical coal mines.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with outstanding organization, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, who can effectively collaborate with partners at all levels across the organization, to identify and resolve issues. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, able to learn new things, and can prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, you must have strong problem-solving skills and an adept ability to lead change in a multi-disciplinary field.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Be part of Teck’s centralized and specialized Water Strategy Team in implementing the objectives and mitigations of the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan
- Lead, maintain, adapt, coordinate, and communicate the Calcite program including working directly with internal and external partners across multiple disciplines
- Cultivate relationships with key partners through regular dialogue and coordinated work sessions, encouraging collaboration and communication
- Manage the sustainable Calcite program, including charter, scope, schedule, risks and opportunities, cost and resourcing requirements, consultant management, regulatory and First Nations engagement, and site and field communications
- Seek and develop novel ideas to sustainable development in Calcite management and lead a program that puts new ideas into practice
- Direct, coach, mentor, and lead a small team of program managers
- Incorporate our adaptive management framework and ensure effective management of change processes are employed
- Oversee Biological studies and manage consultants
Qualifications:
- Engineering or Science degree in Environmental, Mining, Chemical, Process, Metallurgical, Biology or related field
- Minimum seven years’ experience
- Demonstrated ability in project management, coordination, and controls
- Experience leading and knowledgeable in biological studies
- Professional designation is a requirement, or the ability to work towards one, in a related field
