JOB SUMMARY
The Project Manager works closely with the Senior Project Manager in the planning and execution of assigned projects ensuring these are delivered to a high standard, on time and to a high level of customer satisfaction.
DIRECT AND/OR INDIRECT REPORTS
The Project Manager will supervise the work of Project Coordinators and be a role model for others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Management/Supervision/Leadership (if applicable)
- Provide direction and support to Project coordinators ensuring work and key deliverables are achieved within the required timelines
- Coach and mentor junior staff in helping to develop skills, understanding and competence
- Engage, motivate and give positive praise and recognition and establish a culture of inclusivity and respect
- Address under performance and conduct issues in line with policy and process working with key stakeholders to mitigate business risk
Health and Safety (Mandatory)
- Creates and influences the safety culture by leading by example as a mentor and model
- Promotes safe working practices and demonstrates compliance with legislation
- Address safety issues and concerns promptly ensuring employees follow policies ana procedures
- Investigate accidents, incidents and report hazards with the aim of addressing these
Technical/Function (if applicable)
- Create and negotiate on subcontracts ensuring contractual arrangements are signed by the installer(s) and Toro Railings
- Create project pre-con schedule and work with internal consultants to review and make comments within agreed timescales
- Coordinate and supervise the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, making sure that the project gets done on time and within budget.
- Ensure that construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule(s). Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis. Periodic inspection of construction sites.
- Serve as a key link with the clients and will be required to work with the clients from the start of the project until completion. Attends Clients meeting and address Clients issues when they arise.
- Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
- Devise the project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises. Anticipate problems before they occur and find ways to accomplish project goals regardless of changing circumstances.
- Coordinates with all parties involved in the project, which includes the architects, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and laborers.
- Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
Internal/External Customer Service (if applicable)
- Acts as the key contact on assigned projects networking with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective response to service levels.
- Is proactive in identifying issues and addressing these to best serve the needs of customers to a level of optimum satisfaction
- Attends regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are discussed and executed on time
Administration (if applicable)
- Maintains documentation and filing systems/records to a high standard
- Oversees RFI’s/Submittal process
- Works closely with Accounts Receivable for billing purposes to ensure accurate payments are made from client to the business and vice versa and control Accounts Payable to sub-contractors
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in a related field, preferably in construction
EXPERIENCE
- Mid to senior level of experience in Project Management in the building envelope industry
- Solid experience of reading, understanding, and working with Architectural drawings and other related material.
SKILLS
- Organized with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task with excellent detail-orientation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to communicate and work well with others, or independently.
