Job Description
POSITION
Champlain College Saint-Lambert is seeking the services of a PSYCHOLOGIST, to work on a part-time (21 hours per week) regular position in the Student Services department.
FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Dean of Student Services and working in collaboration with the Counseling and Adapted Services teams, the incumbent will be responsible for the personal developmental needs of the campus students (direct clinical services, with special emphasis on psychological, emotional, physical, relational, academic and career development) to assist with their academic success and college experience.
1. Plan and implement awareness programs to promote health and wellness on campus and to raise awareness of counseling and career planning services available to students;
2. Provide individual and group counseling services to campus students experiencing stress-related difficulties, life crisis and/or developmental issues;
3. Provide crisis intervention to students.;
4. Work with the staff of Adapted Services to ensure the availability of well-being resources for students with mental health issues;
5. Promote counseling services to faculty and staff, at the campus, to ensure the proper referral of students to counseling services;
6. Maintain contact with appropriate community agencies (mental health agencies, hospitals, etc.) in order to develop and maintain collaborative resources for students;
7. Provide proper referral to organizations and professionals outside of the campus;
8. Assist with the planning and implementation of special activities for Student Services such as Mental Health Week, Bell Let's Talk day and transitioning programming to College;
9. As a member of the Counselling Team participate in weekly case and planning meetings to review & develop well-being programs and services to address student needs;
10. Participate in the evaluation of counseling services policies and procedures and make policy suggestions;
11. Serve on campus committees as required.
Requirements :
Qualifications:
Must be a member of l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec
Requirements:
Must have excellent communication skills in English, ranging from one-on-one counseling to facilitating large groups;
Fluent in French;
Must have experience working with a diverse student population, including students with special needs;
Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office suite.
