DELIVERY AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN (Driver and Load/Unloader - Kitchen Cabinets)
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Field Services Manager, the Delivery and Service Technician will ensure work performed and product delivered to the end consumer is of the utmost quality, while adhering to adequate quality standards, product specifications, special requests and ensuring process optimization. This position requires a high level of interaction and support to Mylen’s customers, as well as staff/co-workers. Shift type: Dedicated Days
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Possess beginner to advanced knowledge of process and procedures.
- Must travel to job sites in company vehicle.
- Knowledge of safe advanced operations of machinery and equipment.
- Inspect and verify quality of finished products, installations and accurate product count for delivery/service, comparing to supporting order paperwork.
- Respond to customer inquiries and concerns with a high level of communication and troubleshooting (i.e., quality/warranty of installed products).
- Educate customers with industry and product specific knowledge.
- Thorough documentation of quality assessment and corrective actions performed and any necessary follow-up actions required.
- Transfer or load finished product with extreme care to storage or into Company vehicle for delivery and service.
- Deliver product to various destinations, with strict adherence to the delivery/service schedule.
- Be available/flexible to accommodate customer schedules and customer availability.
- Reduce/limit return trips to job sites through preparedness of parts/products and tools as well as ensuring quality of work performed is to company and customer standards.
- Perform corrective actions, such a repairs, touch-ups and installations with high attention to details of workmanship.
- Inspect job site locations to identify any health and safety hazards and implement and communicate corrective action or advise the appropriate person(s) to complete corrective action.
- Ability to operate technology equipment, such as a camera, cell phone and tablet.
- Maintain cleanliness of job site location, including but not limited to, outdoor property, walkways, stairways and interior of homes, offices and/or buildings.
- Unload product at destination in preparation for installation.
- Demonstrate initiative to complete tasks independently, with the support of the Coordinations department and other Company staff, as applicable.
- Have a strong understanding of Mylen’s warranty policy and procedures.
- Complete daily circle checks and cleaning of company vehicles.
- Have a strong understanding of company warranty policy and procedures.
- Complete required reports/administrative work immediately/as required throughout shift.
- Interact with customers, clients and/or vendors in a positive and courteous manner, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
- Assist in other departments as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Ontario class G driver’s license.
- Clean driver’s history/abstract to be processed by Company prior to hire; will be processed annually thereafter.
- Provide proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage prior to hire and upon expiration thereafter.
- Required to provide CLEAR criminal background check at own cost PRIOR to hire date; Company will process annually thereafter.
- Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a professional demeanor; be an ambassador for Mylen.
- Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.
- Ability to individually lift and load heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to team lift and load heavy objects, up to 300lbs. In order to best facilitate a safe team lift, team members are required to remove non-fixed components from product, leaving only the shell, to lessen the weight of the product when transferring to its location. Sound discretion to be used based on overall weight and shape/dimensions of product.
- Ability to work in hot and humid and cold work environments.
- Physically demanding tasks (i.e., lifting, bending and standing/sitting for long periods of time).
- Ability to work extended hours and/or additional shifts when required to meet production demands.
- Maintain Company vehicle, equipment and tools.
- Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.
- CSA steel toed construction grade safety shoes in production area and when delivering product.
- Means of daily/reliable transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Extensive vocational, technical wood-working, surface preparation, finishing and cabinetry training and/or experience, trade certification or education in woodworking preferred.
- Comfortable driving large vehicles and/or vehicles with trailers.
- Valid lift truck training and certification an asset.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering and technical drawings, as well as other written instructions and design specifications.
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
- Strong mathematical knowledge.
- Ability to read and take accurate measurements.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, execute tasks efficiently and work under pressure to facilitate proper business flow.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Highly motivated and detail oriented.
- Autonomous, honest and trustworthy.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
- Valid transportation of dangerous goods certification an asset.
- Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification an asset.
