Job Description

We are looking for a Full Time Senior Youth Worker for the Roots Youth Shelter.

Here is how you will contribute as a Senior Youth Worker:

· Assist staff to provide care and support for up to four youth ages 12-17 in a youth shelter setting.

· Create positive interactions to enhance social skills, recreational opportunities, and connection to the community for youth.

· Provide on the floor leadership to all staff with respect to behaviour management strategies from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, participant-centered approach.

· Take initiative in ensuring a high level of service quality, with particular focus on the youth experience at the Roots Youth Shelter.

· Support supervisor with administrative duties as directed. This can include scheduling, supervision of relief staff, report review, file audits, staff onboarding, etc.

· Schedule is a mixture of 4:30pm-12:30am shifts and 12:30am-8:30am shifts, with possible daytime hours incorporated to fit program needs.

Here is what you need to have to get an interview:

· Degree/Diploma in human services field; a combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Minimum one (1) year human services experience.

· Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

· Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate

· Clear Child Intervention Record Check and Police Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector dated within the last 6 months.

· Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence, and minimum $2M third party liability insurance, Driver’s Abstract with less than six (6) demerits.
