Job Description
The Ontario Shores is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager for the Traumatic Stress Clinic, (TSC), within the Integrated Community Access Program, (ICAP), out-patient service area. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues. Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessment and consultation; individual psychotherapy; psycho-education; liaison with community resources; active involvement as a member of an interdisciplinary team and transitional coordination and planning for termination of service. Client service will be through traditional interviewing methodology as well as in a virtual environment using Telemedicine.
Qualifications Required and Preferred- An MSW.
- The successful candidate must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
- Current CPR-HCP.
- A minimum of 3-5 years psychiatric experience in an outpatient mental health facility or service.
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented treatment with individuals who have experienced or witnessed trauma and are experiencing a significant impact on emotional, physical, interpersonal and vocational functioning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
- Thorough knowledge of social work treatment modalities applied in mental health settings/community.
- Demonstrated competence in CPT.
- Demonstrated informed CBT practice and/or certification.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
Assets (Desirable):
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and familiarity working in a virtual therapeutic environment.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work.
- Experience working with individuals suffering with PTSD.
- Demonstrated informed DBT practice and/or certification.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders.
- The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language.
