Turning Point Youth Services, a multi-faceted and dynamic agency Accredited with Children's Mental Health Ontario, is committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients. We are actively seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join us as a Youth Worker in one of our live-in treatment/congregate care programs for youth aged 12-18.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Incorporate in your work a strengths based relationship based philosophy of care and a belief in the resilience of youth.
- Provide direct, client care and supervision to clients in the residential program.
- Perform the duties of a Primary Worker for assigned clients.
- Promote and integrate Youth and Family Engagement.
- Promote an environment of inclusion that promotes equity and respects diversity.
- Develop and deliver activities and therapeutic programs.
- Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
- Complete documentation and reports as required.
- Participate in the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Shift work is required - day and evening shifts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University or College Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Work, Social Work or equivalent.
- At least one year of relevant work experience, preferably in a residential setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk adolescents and youth adults.
- Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengths-based relationship-based approach.
- Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgement in conflictual and stressful situations.
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
- Excellent communication, organization, administration and computer skills.
- Valid “Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour” certification.
- Valid “First Aid/CPR” certification.
- Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
- Full vaccination (minimum first 2 doses) against COVID-19 by a vaccination series officially approved by Health Canada
This is a collective bargaining unit position within CUPE Local 3501A.

Salary: $48,380.80-$51,903.66 per year
