Opportunity
The Software and IT Engineering Department at ÉTS is recruiting professors who specialize in Quantum Computing to develop new fields of research and teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. Preferred fields include quantum computing (algorithmic, complexity, programming and optimization), quantum machine learning, quantum information theory, quantum software engineering and quantum cryptography.
Selected candidates will join a dynamic and growing Department, and will be given an opportunity to apply their expertise to the development of new courses, the creation of a research group and the establishment of new collaborations with partners in their field.
Job Description
The candidates sought will:
- Propose and develop a new concentration in Quantum Computing as part of a Software Engineering and/or IT Engineering program
- Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more of the above-mentioned fields;
- Mentor graduate students;
- Carry out funded, potentially interdisciplinary research projects with local, national and international partners;
- Develop a research program;
- Publish scientific articles;
- Complete grant applications, particularly those directed at NSERC and FQRNT.
Requirements
- Must hold a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in engineering in a related field, an engineering diploma is an asset.
- Must have industry experience or experience conducting research in close collaboration with industry (if the candidate does not have related industry experience, then such experience may be substituted by solid R&D experience, or the candidate must agree to acquire such experience through an industrial practicum);
- Must demonstrate excellent research and teaching skills.
- Be proficient in French (oral and written), in compliance with the ÉTS Language Policy (in French), or demonstrate a willingness to learn French and enter into a French training program with the support of ÉTS.

Winter or summer 2024.
