We are looking for an experienced Platform Support Engineer to join our Authentication Services team to help us support, deploy, enhance, and develop one of the largest Identity and Access Management (IAM) services in Canada.
The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting and enhancing complex, highly available, and highly scalable enterprise systems. They should have a keen interest in authentication and security, a strong platform-support mindset, and must thrive in a fast-moving environment.

What will you do?
Participate in requirements gathering, analysis, implementation, testing, production handover, and production support- Support enterprise-wide services including authentication, provisioning, federation, and directory platforms
- Work collectively within a dynamic team to actively participate and lead configurations and support of the IAM solution deployment in accordance with designs
- Support production deployments and handle escalations during the day — as well as during off-hours
- Interface with Scotiabank infrastructure teams to maintain and support infrastructure and services under management
- Lead root cause analysis to in-scope systems, identify improvements, and drive to implementation
- Develop operational plans, processes, and procedures to improve service delivery and resiliency
- Develop software following sound software-engineering principles within an agile (Scrum) process
- Work with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
- Support, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines
- Work with RDBMSs such as Oracle and MySQL
- Automate via scripting (Unix shell, Python, Perl)
- Lead by example and mentor growing developers in the team
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 3+ years of experience in developing and supporting large, complex, highly available enterprise systems
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting authentication and authorization platforms (preferably on the Auth0 IAM SaaS)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with customer-facing Java applications deployed on-prem under Linux application servers and web servers
- Experience working on infrastructure-centric platforms and advanced working knowledge of the server and network configurations both for deployment and at run-time
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Jira, Jenkins, Gradle, Bitbucket, Artifactory)
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to collaborate with and lead teams toward resolution
- RDBMS knowledge (e.g., Oracle), including SQL
- Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP(S), SSH)
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with customer facing applications deployed as containers on public clouds such as Microsoft Azure
- RDBMS skills (especially Oracle 19)
- Experience with cloud and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, GCP) as we aim to build self-serve products on a cloud platform
- Some familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and popular JS frameworks)
