PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provides architectural and engineering leadership in Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure, including Servers, Converged/Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Chassis-Based Systems, Enterprise Storage, Network Attached Storage, Infrastructure Appliances, Cloud Service Providers, Managed Service Providers, Hybrid Cloud Environments, Operating Systems, Monitoring, Systems Management, and Infrastructure Services such as DNS, DHCP, Certificate Management, AD, and Identity Federation. Envisions capabilities, develops architectural roadmaps, detailed designs, and supports business case development aligned with TransLink’s technology strategy and architecture in collaboration with Enterprise architecture, IT Security, IT Operations, and other stakeholders. Provides strategic guidance and technology expertise to support business and technology leaders across the enterprise to plan, enable and achieve targeted business outcomes through effective and sustainable technology choices and operating models.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to conduct needs assessments, identify future capabilities, and develop future state Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure architecture with roadmaps. Supports the development of business case for identified needs, budgeting, proposed roadmaps, and future state Cloud and Data Centre infrastructure.
Establishes a solid understanding of business strategies and requirements to translate business needs into technology services. Works with technology leaders and business customers to understand requirements, financial considerations, and technology opportunities.
Provides an advanced level of expertise on Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure direction to business and technology leaders to address emerging business requirements, support projects and optimize service delivery. Supports and guides the decision making of the technology leaders in the definition of technology strategy and selection of appropriate technologies products, vendors, resources, internal and external processes to fulfill service requirements.
Collaborates with technical subject matter experts and other stakeholders to create and maintain Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure architecture and detailed designs (conceptual, logical, integration, and physical).
Identifies opportunities to automate manual Infrastructure and operational procedures. Ensures automation is designed and built into new Cloud or Data Centre Infrastructure solutions. Ensures security is designed and integrated into new Cloud or Data Centre Infrastructure solutions.
Identifies, quantifies, and qualifies risks in Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure and develops strategies to address the risks and implement controls.
Creates detailed integration architectures for integrating new systems architecture into existing Network Infrastructure architecture.
Collaborates with BTS operational, maintenance, and delivery teams from networking, computing, and storage. as well as other areas of BTS to develop high value-engineered Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure solutions.
Builds strong working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. Acts as technical lead and participates in committees and working groups across areas and departments to address specific projects and issues.
Keeps current on emerging technologies and trends within Enterprise Cloud, Data Centre, Computing, and Storage and related technology domains. Seeks opportunities and makes recommendations to leverage technology to provide enhanced value to BTS customers.
Leads the implementation of infrastructure and cloud technology prototypes to assess for suitability and potential benefits.
Assists stakeholders such as Solution Engineers in designing solutions leveraging Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure.
Provides hands-on troubleshooting to support Operations and Maintenance teams through escalation processes when specific subject matter expertise is required, Operational support capabilities have been exceeded, and SLA compliance is at risk. Provides hands-on implementation to validate designs, and to support and assist with Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure builds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The requirements of this job are acquired through completion of a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, plus eight (8) years’ related experience in Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure technology architecture and design, translating business requirements into technology solutions, and contributing to the success of midsize-to-large initiatives with above average levels of complexity and business criticality.
Microsoft professional certifications are desired.
Other related industry certifications are an asset.
Public Cloud certification (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) is an asset.
TOGAF experience/certification is an asset.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Expert knowledge of Server Operating Systems – Windows, Linux, Hypervisors, virtual appliances, containers, etc., Storage – SAN, NAS, virtualization, compression technologies, protocols, management systems, Hardware – servers, storage platforms, converged and hyperconverged infrastructure, chassis-based systems, Infrastructure services – DHCP, DNS, IPAM, Certificate Services, PowerShell scripting, systems management, monitoring, etc.
Expert knowledge of Cloud IaaS and PaaS management platforms (Azure preferred)
Expert knowledge of Automation and Orchestration technologies, AAA – Active Directory, Identity Federation, AzureAD, PIM/PAM, Data protection – backup systems, identification, encryption, archival systems, document management, Multi-Datacenter Disaster Recovery, and failover.
Expert knowledge of Security and compliance (zero-trust, PCI-DSS, operational technology).
Experience designing, architecting, delivering, and supporting cloud and data Centre infrastructure with high availability and disaster recovery capabilities that meet business continuity requirements.
Solid leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills.
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. 37.5 hours per week.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Salary $111,326 - $139,157 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
