Wage & Paygrade: $28.07/hr. (PG16) plus 10% in lieu of Benefits and Vacation

The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 113-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. We are seeking a diligent and hard-working individual that has a passion for the Events industry and the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE). Our ideal candidate will be physically active, safety conscious, dependable and have an excellent driving record to be able to demonstrate their ability to operate the train confidently. They will work in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.

What will you do this year?
In your role as a Trackless Train Driver your primary accountabilities will be to:
- Operate Trackless Train people mover in a safe and professional manner.
- Train operation is a John Deere Garden tractor with train façade with 2 people carrier trailers attached. A full train carries 48 passengers.
- Transport guests from one location to another within the PNE Park during Fair operating hours, within pedestrian traffic areas.
- Conduct daily safety inspection of vehicles and records deficiencies in compliance with the PNE’s Safe Vehicle Operation policy and ASTM standards set out by rides departments.
- Greet and assist guests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ensure proper PNE dress code and appearance standards are adhered to at all times.
- Perform other related duties as required by Supervisor
What else?
- Must have 3-5 years previous experience as a driver.
- Must have a Class 4 unrestricted BC Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Must be able to demonstrate their ability to operate the train in a confident manner.
- Thorough knowledge of the PNE Park and surrounding area preferred.
- Must have knowledge of Work Safe BC Regulations.
- Ability to greet and communicate with guests and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Must be capable of reading, writing, and speaking English for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets, and documentation of work.
- Some related experience is preferred.
- Must be available to work varying shifts including late nights, weekends, and evenings
- Must be available to work full-time hours for the duration of the Fair from August 19 – September 4
- Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
