The new campus will provide a cutting-edge work environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.JOB OVERVIEWOPG is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Accounting & Reporting.Reporting to the Director, Accounting this role is accountable for:Developing and maintaining reporting processes from integration of accounting information using Corporate accounting systems/procedures and cost allocation systems/procedures, to support financial analysis and information needs and external financial reporting;Assessing and evaluating financial policies, GAAP and reporting processes for effectiveness and efficiency and developing and implementing recommendations; andEnsuring that accounting and related supporting information processes have all the required controls and are in compliance to meet Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR).This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG’s public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company’s commitment to growing its social license.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESAccountable for performing and supervising staff in developing and maintaining reporting processes from integration of generation revenue accounting information using Corporate accounting systems/procedures and cost allocation systems/procedures, to support financial analysis and information needs for management reporting and external financial reporting.Integrate the accounting information to provide timely and reliable consolidated financial statements of the Company.Provide advice, information updates and support as required to ensure reporting requirements are met on a timely basis and information is provided in accordance accounting related procedures.Provide information and analysis, such as reports, reconciliations and continuity schedules, as required monthly and quarterly, to support senior management, external reporting and regulatory information requirements.Provide information and analysis to support distributions and payments to OPG’s PartnershipsIdentify critical accounting issues, analyze the situation and recommend options. Manage the process to ensure all liabilities, outstanding credit and disclosures are properly identified, reported and remedial action taken.Monitor and maintain controls over financial statement close to ensure the integrity of generation revenue accounting records.Work with audit personnel to clarify and communicate requirements.Managerial Accountabilities:Manage the department and achieve approved program results by maintaining a team of staff who are capable of producing the outputs required.Set the appropriate context for department staff, other finance staff assisting the department, and contract employees.Provide leadership to direct staff, other Finance staff, and other business unit staff so that they collaborate with line management and with each other in pursuing goals.Ensure staff is in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and OPG policies.Provide a safe and healthy work environment that supports diversity.EDUCATIONCPA and a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 7-10 years of progressive management and people leadership experience on a finance team;Experience in reviewing external financial reports (MD&A, financial statements, and AIF), and conducting technical accounting analysis;Experience with IFRS and/or US GAAP, identifying key issues and assessing alternative solutions;Experience in review of audited financial statements, researching and analyzing complex accounting issues and exposure to various internal control environments;Experience in reviewing/compiling financial statement consolidation working papersSense of urgency and decision-making skills conducive to managing priorities and meeting internal and external timelines;Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, with a recognized certification such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt is considered an assetA results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously;Demonstrated ability to navigate and lead others through organizational change with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, execute, and communicate change effectively while minimizing disruption and resistance;Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders including Controllership and Project Management teams;Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels;Ability to work in a cross-functional environment;Sound judgment, attention to detail, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities;Understanding and interest in emerging Information Technology tools such as digitalization, AI, etc. would be beneficial;Proficient with the use of information technology tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel;Experience in using IBM Cognos Disclosure Management and SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) software would be an asset; andExperience in utilities, electricity, or power industries is preferred.The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.What Makes a Career at OPG Different?As Ontario’s largest clean energy generator, we’re building, expanding, and innovating the equipment and technology that keeps Ontario powered with clean, reliable energy.At OPG, our values are our strengths.
