MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT – PEDIATRIC PRACTICE
We are currently seeking a Medical Office Assistant for our busy Pediatric office.
Dr. Rachel Ouellette is a General Consulting Pediatrician. Born and raised in Fredericton, she returned home to practice in 2011. She takes consultations for all pediatric medical problems from General Practitioners for children from birth to 18 years. She believes that parents know their child best, and that health care professionals need to really listen to the parent & child to reach the right diagnosis and initiate the right treatments. Dr. Ouellette loves her community and enjoys connecting with other community service people who share her passion for helping kids.

Position Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant is the director of first impressions and supports day to day operations of a busy Pediatric practice, performing complex technical and confidential administrative duties and providing exceptional customer service for patients and their family members.
Accountabilities include but not limited to:
· Effectively interact with patients and the minor’s parents or legal guardians
· Handle and follow-up all incoming communications (email, phone, in-person) in a responsive, positive, professional fashion
· Respond to inquiries and provide appropriate information while documenting in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (i.e., Intrahealth)
· Process referrals, requests and other medical documents and forms and scan into EMR
· Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
· Establish, update, and organize patient files and medical records
· Proofread and edit Physician and learner’s reports
· Create, edit, and format documents
· Maintain databases and produce reports
· Submit and reconcile billing claims to Medicare as directed by the Physician
· Arrange for referrals, laboratory services, assessments, and hospital admissions
· Post information on social media
· Perform reception, clerical and office duties as required
Requirements:
· Patient/client focus; effective interpersonal skills including a professional positive attitude and friendly demeanor; skilled at establishing positive relationships
· Comfortable working in a noisy atmosphere with multiple interruptions
· Experience with Intrahealth Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Medicare billing system an asset
· Excellent time-management and organizational skills; the ability to remain organized and responsive to competing priorities
· Attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to self- monitor for accuracy in work
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Customer service oriented
· Excellent administrative and computer skills with proficiency in MS Office programs (word, excel, outlook)
· Proficient data entry skills (4000 KSPH)
· Knowledge of healthcare operations / Medical Terminology knowledge and spelling accuracy
· Experience posting on social media platforms
· Results oriented; resourceful self-starter, uses good judgement and demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond
· Demonstrates integrity, positive energy and attitude
· Exercises discretion and confidentiality
· Excellent oral and written English language skills
Qualifications:
· Post- secondary Administrative Support Program which includes medical terminology/transcription
· Demonstrated proficiency in skills, verified by testing may be required
· Min 1 year experience preferred, but relevant education and limited experience considered
· French bilingual an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
