JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reception- Greets patients, visitors and staff, directing them to appropriate personnel and/or destination/room, providing assistance as required.
- Answers the telephone, sends/received faxes, responding to enquiries within scope of authority, or, directing to most appropriate person.
- Takes, prioritizes and relays messages for staff and/or patients. Locates staff, pages healthcare professionals as required.
- Open, sort and distribute incoming mail and other materials.Patient Administrative Services/Information Management
Patient Administrative Services/Information Management- Retrieve the On-Call Schedule for the “today”
- Completes Critical Care Bed Communication Board ( ICU lean report)
- Updates the Add-On Board with any Roll over cases from the previous day if any. Make sure you change priority code if it applies
- Calls for inpatients
- Ensures the activity report from the follow day, evening and nights and add in any cases not captured. I.e.: Add on cases are updated
- Compiles data and Completes all necessary reports (staffing/patient)
- Ensures all Pick Lists for the Add-on Cases are sent to MDRD
- Problem solves minor IT problems.
- Ensures all X rays and MRIs have arrived for next day patients
- Call for patient beds as necessary
- Book all add-on cases and communicate to appropriate staff
Ensures efficient clerical administration and operation of the department within scope of authority- Prepares OR lists, identifies and communicates changes with appropriate staff
- Requisitions and maintains office/medical supplies; counts and labels inventory as required. May be required to stock unit carts and/or supply areas.
- Maintains call sheets for the area
- Updates “fan out” list as required
- Contacts environmental services for cleaning of equipment as necessary
manages sick calls by seniority, payroll and OT, prepares nursing schedule master template as necessary - Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
- Performs cross-functional, and/or, other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
EDUCATION:- Completion of high school or recognized equivalent is required.
- Completion of a Medical Terminology course is required.
