Summary
Position Summary: As a Building Automation System (BAS) Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of BAS projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, contractors, and clients, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required specifications. Your expertise in building automation systems and project management will contribute to the successful implementation of BAS projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project risks.
2. Project Execution:
- Lead project teams and provide guidance to ensure effective project implementation.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and commissioning of BAS components and systems.
- Monitor project progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
3. Stakeholder Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Communicate project updates, progress reports, and key milestones to stakeholders.
- Address stakeholder concerns, manage expectations, and resolve conflicts.
4. Quality Assurance and Documentation:
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet the required standards.
- Conduct system testing and inspections to verify proper functionality and performance.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, technical specifications, change orders, and as-built drawings.
5. Project Budget and Cost Control:
- Monitor project budgets, expenses, and resource utilization to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize project expenditures.
- Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and contracts related to the project.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (X+ years) in managing BAS projects, including system design, installation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of building automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) are desirable.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or working toward.
- Niagara N4/AX certification is considered an asset.
