CCWN Outreach and Support Coordinator – Full Time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Outreach and Support Coordinator will:
- Intensify CCWN’s outreach and support efforts in Lincoln area to residents facing financial hardships (food insecurity and residential insecurity) via our Vineland and Beamsville offices.
- Engage food provision agencies and allied partners in taking collective action to share resources and data, for the purpose of strengthening access to healthy nutritious food for people experiencing food insecurity, or at risk of becoming food insecure.
- Connect community organizations needing food, with food donors with surplus food while also facilitating bulk purchasing orders.
This will be achieved while acting in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures, and in support of the strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer service outside of Beamsville, including the Vineland office, offering equitable access to services for Lincoln residents facing food insecurity and related barriers.
- Provide support in accessing food, clothing, information and referral, assistance with financial support, and a myriad of quality of life programs.
- Serve as a point of contact for community stakeholders to be able to engage and support us very close to their neighborhoods.
- Collaborate with partners to identify and address neighbourhood-specific barriers, with an eye on leveraging access to healthy food for vulnerable people in the highest need neighbourhoods in our region.
- Facilitate the acquisition of bulk orders and leveraging surplus food. Liaise with food donors and nonprofit charitable social service organizations to strengthen relationships.
- Remain current on programs & applications aimed at collecting and redistributing food that would have otherwise been lost to waste. (Foodrescue, Too Good to Go, Flashfood, One More Bite etc.)
- Track data and report on metrics as required.

Marketing and Communications
- In consultation with the Executive Director and Manager of Community Engagement, participate in the planning and execution of special events/fundraisers, develop and implement a social media and communications strategy and maintain consistent posts on social media platforms (FB,
Instagram, Twitter etc.) and website.
- In consultation with the Manager of Community Engagement, assist with the maintenance of online platforms, including both social media and website maintenance, posting and updating.
- Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development and promotional purposes.
- Assist with execution of formal and informal donor recognition programs.
- Contribute to the tracking and chronicling of media coverage for reference and historical archives.
- Take photographs, establish and maintain agency photo albums (hard copy and electronic) of special events, volunteer and donor recognition etc.
- Attend and engage in networking and public relations opportunities to promote the agency, including off-site opportunities with the CCWN van as appropriate.

- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Executive Director, staff, volunteers,
Board of Directors, suppliers, donors, clients and other stakeholders
- Exercise a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
- Participate in ongoing training for community outreach, marketing, communications, etc.
- Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence
- Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others
- Immediately report all workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others
- Adhere to the requirements outlined in the CCWN Staff Handbook, Occupational Health & Safety
Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment
Standards Act

Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- Post-secondary education in a related/relevant field of study
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in community outreach, marketing or public education
- A combination of education and experience will also be considered
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Superior written and verbal skills; effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Evidence or track record in achieving targets/objectives in project coordination and execution
- Experience working with community groups, the media and the general public
- Proficient in the use of Canva, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media tools, and applicable software
- Knowledge of marketing and community engagement principles
- A high level of effective time and project management, personal initiative and teamwork
- Organized and detail oriented, with the strong ability to manage multiple deadlines and pressures
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, when working effectively as an individual or as part of a team
- Understanding of issues facing people living in poverty
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License and consistent access to a personal vehicle
- Comfortable driving the CCWN Van locally and otherwise as needed

Working Conditions
Modestly pleasant office surroundings with occasional exposure to excessive heat or cold and periods of continuous noise generated by incoming telephone inquiries and/or other office communications. The job requires some sudden shift of mental focus that is beyond the control of the job such as responding to crisis, stressful and/or unexpected situations.
This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals with varying levels of ability, and occasional communication with upset or angry individuals. This position may involve dealing with clients and families experiencing conflict issues. The role requires adaptability during busy times and the ability to maintain focus while managing a number of requests and situations at one time.
- Prolonged sitting in an office chair, with frequent use of a computer, and situated at a desk, with occasional standing and walking
- Occasional lifting of office supplies/equipment of no more than approximately 30 lbs.
- Considerable physical movement and effort when involved with event set-up, which includes bending, squatting, standing, walking
- Local travel may be required on behalf of the agency
- Mobility to travel and work on events and training initiatives at various locations
- Four or more hours per day of close visual attention and/or concentration using both a computer and phone (use of hands-free device can be made available)
- Available to work early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends
