Are you an eager and organized leader with a strong sense of community centered around people and relationships? Skwlax Resource Management Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Junior Accountant to join our team in Chase, British Columbia.
Key Job Duties:
- Reporting directly to and assisting the Manager of Finance in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly financial reports to the Manager of Finance as required
- Updating financial data in databases to ensure the accuracy of the information
- Assisting with reviewing payroll records and expenses, and able to perform all payroll functions on a back-up basis
- Assisting with reviewing accounts receivable billings, and able to perform all billing functions on a back-up basis
- Assisting with reviewing accounts payable processing and expense allocation, and able to perform all payable functions on a back-up basis
- Assisting with reviewing job costing transactions, able to reconcile and prepare job costing reports as needed
- Assisting with accounts receivable collections and able to resolve overdue accounts
- Assisting with supplier credit negotiations and able to rectify any account discrepancies
- Processing financial entries to ensure a proper recording of all business transactions.
- Performing reconciliations including bank and credit card accounts, and assisting with preparation of year end working paper files
- Developing monthly financial statements that include profit and loss statements, cash flow records, job cost reports and balance sheets
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- University Degree in Business, Finance, Commerce or other related equivalent area of study, with plans to work towards a CPA designation
- Accounting system conversion experience would be an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years working experience working in accounting/finance.
- Excellent knowledge of finance including accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, IT, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of team.
- High proficiency in mathematics and the ability to think critically.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Superb organization skills and excellent attention to detail
- Analytical mind with strong problem-solving and conceptual skills
- Experience working in construction would be an asset
- Ability to maintain Company integrity through confidentiality and discretion
- Familiarity with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) policies and processes considered an asset (accounting procedures, reporting guidelines, etc.)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
