PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Senior Accountant prepares high quality financial reporting documents for disclosure in compliance with internal and external requirements on a timely basis, governs account reconciliation controls, prepares tax and entity reporting and maintains stakeholder relationship with Treasury, ownership and Taxation.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Intermediate to Senior level financial statement preparation experience
Full-cycle accounting – A/P & A/R, inventory, billing, banking, financial statements, bookkeeping, reporting etc.
Assist with filing GST/HST, payroll and corporate tax installment filing
Reconciliation of capital asset accounts, balance sheets and intercompany accounts
Calculating and performing related GL entries
Review and analysis of monthly results and required reporting
Ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and are clearly auditable
Monthly review of revenue and expense accruals
Analyzing and reporting cost variances
OTHER DUTIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
Coordinate activities with the multiple internal stakeholders that provide information into the accounting and reporting process or require its output;
Support leadership with adhoc and regular reporting requests;
Review journal entries and reconciliations;
Oversee the account reconciliation process and ensure that account reconciliation policy and procedure are followed;
Review tax and entity financial statements, tax reporting analysis, manage subsidiary audit for tax and regulatory compliance purpose, and maintain effective stakeholder relationship with Taxation team;
Prepare or review external financial disclosures;
Assist with integrations of newly acquired companies and transition companies to the corporate ERP;
Recommend reporting solutions addressing significant financial transactions and track their timely implementation;
Lead or support team projects and initiatives including quarter end and year end external reporting and management reporting, process documentation, data management and system optimization;
Assess reporting implications of significant financial transactions and draft or review related disclosures;
Ensures financial reporting is in compliance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises);
Address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Accounting (CPA) Designation strongly preferred;
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience required;
Knowledge of ASPE requirements, desirable;
ERP/Great Plains expertise (desirable); Solver a significant asset
Process Management Skills;
Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders;
Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment;
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
