Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Senior Communications Advisor on a temporary basis (18 months) on our Communications team. This position is a remote or hybrid opportunity based in Saskatoon and is open to candidates across Western Canada.
Are you a seasoned communications professional who can maneuver complex situations, develop strategies and relationships, and adapt to change? This position will give you the opportunity to display those skills as a key driver in collaborating, strategizing, planning, and executing communication initiatives within your portfolio.
What you’ll do:
- Provide strategic communications planning advice and co-develop communications strategies and plans with the Senior Leadership Team, Organizational Leaders, Business Units, project leads and local Co-ops to deliver effective communications strategies that aid in reaching business objectives.
- Create and edit content for many different communication vehicles to advance the reputation of the organization and heighten stakeholder awareness, understanding and support of its vision, mission, and business objectives. This will require fluency in a wide variety of traditional and digital communication mediums.
- Take a lead role in planning strategic communications activities and provide guidance to other functions to ensure consistent voice, tone and message across various modes of communication.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, coordinate and sequence communication to optimize resources, mitigate risks and improve results. You will also act as a resource for other team leaders on communication planning, media relations or social media.
- Collaborates on public relations planning and execution, including planning media events and opportunities.
Who you’ll work with:
You will work closely with local Co-ops, the Organizational Change Management team, the Marketing team and the project teams to interpret needs and develop communication strategies. You will report into the Manager, Communications and Public Relations on a team that strives for a culture of support, collaboration, and high performance.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Strategy & Communications and:
- Have 6 to 9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience as an effective, strategic communicator in a large, complex multi-stakeholder organization.
- Ideally, have a bachelor’s degree in communications, business (marketing) or journalism (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences through various media.
- Have the ability to collaborate and lead project teams and are able to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Are affiliated or certified with a relevant professional body such as IABC or CPRS preferred.
