The Opportunity:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of all operational and compliance aspects of the specialty pharmacy operations. The manager will be involved in the set up of the new pharmacy facility where applicable, including application for licenses/third party payer agreements and other support as required. Operationally, the manager is required to perform pharmacist duties, including dispensing prescribed pharmaceuticals and compounds, and providing clinical services to both clients and healthcare providers in accordance to all laws and responsibilities set by the provincial College of Pharmacists and Sentrex Health Solutions.
A Day in the Life (What you will do here):
- Provide oversight for daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, standards and company policy/procedures.
- Provide supervision and leadership for pharmacy team members, including scheduling, assignment of work, hiring, training, and performance management
- Provide all appropriate and authorized pharmacist services/duties including prescription entry, medication dispensing, patient counselling/follow up, and clinical services including prescription adaptation, renewals, injections, ordering lab test and prescribing as permitted by legislation in the province of practice and as required by business needs
- Provide oversight and ensure compliance for compounding activities (sterile and non-sterile) and cleanroom operations depending on site
- Implement company policy/procedures for new patient support program/business initiatives into pharmacy operations
- Apply for and maintain required pharmacy accreditation license(s) and third party insurance agreements as applicable
- Support facility construction and/or renovations when required
- Ensure operational targets are met including financial targets (accurate prescription pricing, budget, inventory), service/quality targets and other key performance indicators as required
- Assist leadership team with development of standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Ensure all required documentation and records are maintained in accordance with regulations and company policy/procedure
- Schedules and executes inventory and cycle counts as per company policy and investigates/resolves discrepancies
- Provides customer service for clients and stakeholders (eg. patients, health care providers, industry partners, etc.) and manages escalated complaints
- Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements
- Ensure proper reporting of Incident Reports/Deviations, Adverse Events and Product Quality Complaints and implement corrective/preventive actions where applicable
- Works with leadership team on other projects and business initiatives as assigned
- Additional duties as requested by the Manager
What you need to ensure you are set up for success:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy degree
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Pharmacist providing direct patient care with the provincial College of Pharmacy
- Minimum 5+ years work experience in community or hospital pharmacy, with at least 1 year pharmacy management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of retail pharmacy practice and understanding biologics and specialty medications
- Strong knowledge of sterile compounding (hazardous and non-hazardous) and regulations required
- Ability to perform all technical duties involved in pharmacies operations
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong computer skills in a Windows environment using MS Office (Excel, Word)
- Proficiency in Kroll an asset
- Strong knowledge of third party insurance plans and special authorization procedures
- Excellent customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to physical stand for extended periods of time, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work shifts including days, evenings and weekends as required by business needs
