Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with diverse abilities in Penticton and surrounding communities. We provide support and services for people with intellectual disabilities, seniors, low-income adults, families, and persons facing homelessness.
PDSCL is looking for a Permanent Full-Time Community Support Worker for Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm .
The Community Support Worker must have the ability to effectively support people with developmental disabilities and a solid belief in community inclusion is required. Successful candidate will assist clients to function more independently in their own homes and the community, assists clients with daily life skills, social skills and/or behavior management. Teaches and assists clients with activities such as grooming, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and house hold safety. Employee will accompany and/or transport clients to activities such as appointments’, shopping or leisure activities. The successful candidate for this position will work in both Outreach and Inclusion:
Outreach- Reporting to the Outreach Coordinator assists clients living semi independently with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional and daily life skills development. Assists clients to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible.
Community Inclusion- assists clients with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional and daily life skills development. Assists clients to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible. See job description for more details.
EDUCATION: Minimum of a diploma or equivalent certification in a related human/social service field or recreation course. One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Interpersonal skills, communication skills, analyzing and judgment ability, physical capabilities, initiative/ independence, honesty, work standards, team orientation, stress tolerance, acceptance of working conditions.

- Valid CPR/First Aid,
- Satisfactory criminal record check-working with vulnerable adults,
- FoodsafeCertificate,
- TB Skin Test,
- Medical clearance,
- code of ethics and confidentiality form,
- Class 4 unrestricted license or willing to obtain,
- Adherence to current Provincial Health Office Orders including COVID Vaccine
Benefits: Positions of 20 hours or more per week as per current collective agreement.
