We’re the only national, non-profit organization that provides financing, mentorship and resources to aspiring business owners aged 18-39. Here’s the opportunity: Communications and Content Manager
The Communications and Content Manager is responsible for the strategy and production of all creative services and content delivered by Futurpreneur’s Marketing and Communications team, both internally and in collaboration with vendors.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will be managing the organization’s bilingual (English & French) content and editorial calendar, including planning, concepting, copywriting, design, translation, and reporting for our website and blog, social media, email marketing, print, campaigns and special initiatives (e.g. video production, ebooks.) In addition, you will lead bilingual communications for the organization, including strategy and execution of key messaging, press releases, speaker notes, community management, as well as influencer and press outreach across our ecosystem.
Ideally, you will be a specialist in copywriting and storytelling who cooperates well with other creatives and stakeholders to define our brand voice and bring it to life. Writing and editing is your comfort zone, you have a well-rounded knowledge of the craft and how to adapt content to be effective on different platforms and in different forms. You are impact and data-driven so you love gleaning insights from analytics to make strategic choices that appeal to both audiences and algorithms (be they search, social or more!)
As part of the Marketing and Communications team, you will work closely with all team members, other internal teams, and vendors with a focus on supporting stakeholders to achieve our organizational goals –from recruiting entrepreneurs and mentors to supporting our community and our partnerships (both corporate and governmental). You will have two direct reports and will manage relationships with internal subject matter experts and third party agencies, freelancers and consultants such as our PR firm, design vendors, freelance writers/translators/editors and photographers/videographers. To you, creating bilingual content is much more than simply the translation at the end of a production line: you think user-first throughout the entire process from conception and planning through delivery to speak effectively to different personas and use cases.
Over the next few months we will be revamping our website with an agency. You will play a key role in this project, including content audit, inventory and overhaul to better cater to our audiences and improve our SEO.
This is a permanent, full-time position located in Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC. The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the closest office).
What you will do:
Strategy:
- Collaborate with the Head of Marketing and Communications to research and develop personas and a strategic roadmap for our channels (website & blog, email, social, partnerships, influencers and paid).
- Adapt our messaging to address market changes and the evolving needs of our audience.
- Create and maintain our editorial calendar to ensure consistency, frequency and quality of content for always-on and campaign deliverables.
- Define the tone, manner, voice and style guide for our brand and work with the team to socialize our approach and ensure effective implementation in both languages.
Content & Communications
- Manage content production and repurposing across a wide range of platforms, formats and styles for quality delivery and execution.
- Write and produce excellent content marketing materials to express concepts and ideas that will build effective storylines and inspire our audiences. Including but not limited to: organic and paid social and search content, blog posts, web copy, email deploys and customer journeys, print materials (e.g. one-pagers flyers, retractable banners), press releases, speaker notes, video scripts and more.
- Ensure delivery of appropriate content formats, styles, and messaging to meet project briefs and achieve objectives.
- Coordinate with team members and vendors to meet deadlines and project deliveries. Leverage testing, data collection and analysis to identify trends to achieve maximum impact for projects.
- Provide reporting insights to assess the performance and continual improvement of always-on, campaign and ad hoc content initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager on content and SEO for our website as well as ad creative for paid campaigns.
- Optimize the content creation workflow and martech stack for effective and timely reviewing, editing, approvals and publishing of content and communications deployments.
Leadership, Coaching and Team Management
- Manage, coach, and develop the content and communications team (community engagement/social media and copywriter/translator) as well as the work of third-party agencies and freelancers to achieve optimal performance.
- Contribute to building a positive team culture aligned to organizational vision, values and strategic priorities including our diversity & inclusion commitments.
- Build relationships with internal, partner and community teams to support entrepreneurship development initiatives, ensure adoption of our strategic roadmap and socialize key communications tools (e.g. tone and manner, brand and style guidelines).
- Ensure that all marketing and communication materials are consistent, accurate and that they comply with corporate branding and messaging guidelines, legal, and compliance (e.g. CASL) with appropriate partner, mentor and/or client consent and attribution.
What you will have:
- Relevant experience may include education and/or equivalent hands-on career experience in Communications, Content Marketing, Advertising, SEO, English, Journalism or Business
- 8+ years of experience with exceptional content creation and writing skills and a demonstrated track record of success
- 2-3 years in team and vendor management with experience sourcing, assigning, writing, and managing content development from concept to launch
- Ability to manage and produce quality work in a fast-moving environment with many stakeholders
- Experience producing content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and/or TikTok, with an understanding of how each platform differs and can be optimized
- Exceptional English communications and writing ability
- Fully bilingual (English and French) would be desirable, with written and verbal fluency in French considered an asset
- Experience creating and/or managing promotional materials and deploying press releases for regional and national level marketing campaigns
- Strong network and sense of purpose, entrepreneurial mentality and/or lived experience working with entrepreneurs and community organizations
- Detail oriented, organized and guided by a data-driven mindset
- Public, not for profit and/or finance sector experience would be an asset
- Experience speaking to a Gen z and/or Millennial audience in a B2B or entrepreneurial context would be valuable
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to resolve issues with a positive outcome
- Experience with WordPress CMS and Microsoft Dynamics CRM considered a plus
- Experience using platforms and tools for organic or paid search and social is an advantage (Google Search Console, SEMRush, SEO Yoast, Google AdWords, Meta/Facebook Ads Manager, GA4)
