Duties and Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting, internal management reporting, policy and procedure implementation, and analysis and insight into financial results.
Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and related financial reports that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all Canadian government financial reporting requirements and filings.
Manage the annual financial audit, including providing supporting documentation, reconciliations, and queries.
Prepare financial analysis and insights for senior management team.
Manage budgeting and forecasting activities.
Perform various account postings and reconciliations.
Oversight of internal controls.
Responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up and improve accounting control systems.
Demonstrate business understanding and recommend business process improvements and efficiencies to drive business success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
4+ years progressive finance or accounting experience
3-5 years in a management role
Experience in the transportation or trucking industry, supply chain or logistics, strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
Advanced MS Excel and technical abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English - written & verbal)
Effective time management skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism.
