Manager, Events Programming and Tours
The Forks is now hiring a permanent, full-time, in-office position for Manager, Events, Programming and Tours. This individual will provide leadership and management to the organization’s External Relations department as well as advice to the Chief Communities Officer (CCO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting directly to the CCO, the Manager, Events, Programming and Tours executes and oversees all aspects of event management, programming development and tour/education program creation. Job Requirements:
- Understanding and passion for the mission and vision of the organization.
- Three to five years of hands-on experience executing successful large and/or small events.
- Experience creating innovative programming and/or tours.
- Exceptional oral communications and writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a customer service lens.
- Hands-on experience creating and leading diverse teams that include internal employees and external contractors.
- Understanding and awareness of the history of Canada and of its Indigenous Peoples, the historical significance of The Forks and the land on which it resides and a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
- Budgeting and organizational skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee third-party event organizers. Develop and maintain tools to facilitate booking and management of third-party events.
- Manage and collaborate with Creative Director on existing Forks signature events including Canada Day, New Year’s Eve, UnCommon Pours and others.
- Create and oversee shoulder season programming and oversee logistics for corporate events such as APM, press conferences, community engagement events, staff celebrations, and more.
- Create and manage tour development plan for The Forks.
- Identify and foster programming relationships with suppliers and partners.
- Foster innovation in delivery of all programming, events, and tours in alignment with strategic priorities.
- Lead, grow and enhance events and programming teams.
