Who we need:
We need a multi-tasker in the truest sense, who thrives on juggling projects, demands, and timelines - and doesn’t get overwhelmed doing so. As the new Counter/Inside Sales Representative, you will respond to customer inquiries on the phone, sharing accurate information and product knowledge, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction. In addition, you will be part of our branch counter staff, working closely with contractors, vendors, and our sales team to research customer requests.
What you will do:
- Learn. You will participate in training and coaching to build your product and industry knowledge and grow your sales skills.
- Provide excellent customer service. You will respond to customer telephone inquiries quickly and professionally, demonstrating thorough product and pricing knowledge.
- Coordinate orders, ensuring proper products with correct pricing are allocated and a delivery time is confirmed.
- Research out-of-stock and special non-stock requests with suppliers and other branches, to gather pricing, lead times, freight costs, minimum buy-requirements, and manage special orders.
- Utilize product knowledge to recommend alternatives to customers if their initial request cannot be met, upselling whenever possible.
- Develop positive relationships with customers, working to resolve any issues, avoiding conflict, and escalating when needed.
- Assist counter with customer orders, pickups, and returns as required.
- Increase sales. You will reach out to customers by phone to provide details on specials or products that may be of interest. You will share leads with the Sales and Growth team, working as a team to accomplish department and company objectives.
What you bring:
- The experience. You may be a recent graduate or have a couple of years in a customer-service role with a focus on HVAC, Plumbing and PFV.
- The motivation. You want to learn the industry, sales, and the business side of wholesale distribution. You are highly accountable for meeting your goals and objectives with minimal supervision. You can balance and prioritize competing tasks. You are comfortable learning and using technology, including our internal systems.
- The interpersonal skills. You are extremely comfortable taking in-coming and making outgoing telephone calls. You are deeply committed to customer service, can build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
