Position: Specialist, Creative Content – Emergency Response
Reports to: Manager, Marketing Communications
Position Term: Full Time Permanent

Job Purpose:
World Vision Canada’s digital product team focuses on delivering the right message to the right audience with the right solution at the right time. Following a disciplined Agile Scrum approach, dedicated agile teams focused on specific market segments operate in rapid test and learn cycles obsessed with delivering supporter value and driving efficient revenue growth and long-term supporter value.
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing Communications, the Creative Content Specialist embodies the voice and tone of the audience of the emergency response product while upholding World Vision Canada’s brand narrative through use of creative content. S/he is responsible for fostering a trusting relationship with the target audience and advocating for the world’s most vulnerable children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Executing Creative Content
- Curate and adapt content for the emergency response product.
- Execute content for the emergency response product in compelling and unignorable ways.
- Create, write, and produce relevant content to realize the product team’s shared vision and plans.
- Own writing flow, readability, sentence variety and structure, specific to their target audience
- Engage internal subject matter experts as needed.
- Coach all subject matter experts to ensure alignment with Scrum team’s shared vision on supporter value.
- Support the creative briefing process.
- Collaborate with the content platform product team in the ideation and creation of content.
- Actively participate in Writers & Content Creators Community of Practice which collaborates regularly, shares information, improves skills and actively works on advancing shared knowledge of communications.
Envisioning Effective Strategy
- Guide the creative strategy and lead the creative execution for target audience’s journey.
- Lead highest value creative for assigned target audience.
- Imagine how a fulfilling relationship between trusted brand and faithful supporter will function.
- Stay current on topics and issues that matter to the target audience, provide feedback to Scrum team where relevant and adapt the creative content approach as needed.
- Implement test and learn cycles using data and insight, aiming to be as close to the supporters’ needs and desires as possible.
- Steward supporters through use of creative content and effective communication, including but not limited to: web, social media, video, audio, events, and offerings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ marketing communications experience; ideally with an international NGO and/or a Christian faith-based organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding ability to write creative content to a variety of demographics and audiences.
- Ability to produce content for various media.
- Knowledge and working expertise on strategy for social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) writing experience an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, proofreading and creative skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and pivot quickly.
- Experience working in an Agile team environment an asset.
- Embrace a non-hierarchical approach, demonstrating transparency and trust across the organization.
