Area of Assignment: Laboratory
Basic Function and Scope:
The Technician is responsible for the collection of specimens for the Laboratory, laboratory technical support and application of cardiopulmonary services.
Hours of Work: Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends) as required.
Pay Rate: Will be in accordance with the Wage Scale of the S.E.I.U. Local 1 Canada, Paramedical Unit Collective Agreement, classification of Tech 2 - Phlebotomist.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Post-secondary education in a related field;
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
- Current B.C.L.S. certification.
Experience:
- Previous training and recent experience in phlebotomy.
Required Skills:
- Must meet qualifications of the Laboratory Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act, R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 683, Article 3;
- Demonstrated knowledge of phlebotomy;
- Computer literate and good keyboarding skills;
- Good organizational skills;
- Demonstrated ability to perform work accurately and efficiently;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision;
- Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.

The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
Job Type: Casual
Salary: $24.76-$28.50 per hour
