Our Technologies team commercializes and delivers technologies across all three of Hatch's sectors: Metals, Energy, Infrastructure. We're a team of innovators and problem solvers who deliver custom and specialized engineering to deliver novel solutions and technologies.
Our Technology business is looking for a dynamic Commercial Operations Manager - Vendor Relations to join our team. This is an opportunity to support our Technologies Practice globally as well as other Business Units where Technology supply is involved. The position is reporting to the Global Commercial Director for Hatch Technology. Hatch-developed technologies and technology transfer services contribute significantly to plant reliability, operability, maintainability and optimum production.

As the successful candidate, you will:
- Prepare, write, review, negotiate and administration of: NDAs, Proposals, MOUs, and LOIs, client primary contracts, fixed price/lump sum based contracts, fee and expense reimbursable contracts, turnkey EPC contracts, EPCM contracts, master services agreements and master supply agreements, JV and sales coordination agreements, consortium/collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements, technology licensing agreements, and industrial equipment leasing agreements.
- Prepare, administer and manage secondary contractual documents such as performance guarantees, letters of credit, documentary credits.
- Facilitate the Hatch Technology IP Management Group’s research and commercialization requirements via the preparation, negotiating and administration of research agreements with universities and colleges, third party client participants, and government funding agreements with both Canadian and overseas funding agencies (e.g. Canada’s NSERC, NRCan and CRD, EC, etc.).
- Coordinate with the Project, Operations, Legal, Risk Management, Tax, Accounting, and Finance departments to ensure that the potential transactions and agreements outlined above comply with corporate mandates and policies and client requirements.
- Develop commercial and contracting strategies including the review, evaluation, and assessment of potential commercial risks. Preparation and presentation of risk reviews, evaluations, and assessments. Participation in the Business Planning Sessions, Marketing and relevant Strategy meetings and workshops.
- Manage and/or coordinate the commercial activities relating to the implementation of new clients, vendors and/or new projects. Participating in workshop and strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate with the Project Controls personnel assigned to each client in tracking the commercial elements of projects.
- Conduct contract reviews with our Project, Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure contract deliverables compliance.
- Deliver and execute the commercial contract requirements and adhering and advocating corporate mandates and policies.
You bring to the role:
- Professional level command of English languages is a must. Spanish, Portuguese and German is considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s Degree/Masters/ JD in Commercial, Supply Chain contract negotiations or a Legal related field, or equal experience.
- Minimum 4 years of commercial, procurement and/or contractual management experience, preferably in the provision of engineering services or in the design & supply of heavy industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of contracts and the principles of drafting commercial and/or contractual documents.
- Strong understanding of procurement protocols, incoterms, and financial instruments to support commercial transactions related to the design and supply of heavy industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of technology development and technology commercialization.
- Dynamic team player and effective team leadership and communication skills with high level of accountability.
