Position Summary:
The Senior New Product Development (NPD) Program Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing and managing the successful development and introduction of new products into the market. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the seamless execution of product launches.
As a Senior NPD Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all engineering aspects of the product development process, from initial concept to production release. You are a key member of the program cross-functional team, including product management, engineering, manufacturing, quality, application engineering and supply chain, responsible to ensure that all activities are aligned and executed according to Delta-Q timelines and quality standards.
Specific Duties:
- Responsible for the successful product development and launch of all assigned programs on behalf of the program review board.
- Provides leadership to the multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Manages the schedule, budget, quality, and performance of the program.
- Using engineering knowledge, works hand in hand with product management and engineering disciplines to ensure an optimized trade-off for cost, budget and features.
- Obtains sign off from the program review board for the product development and for any significant change requests.
- Develops detailed project plans including cost estimates, schedules and resource requirements.
- Uses internal Product Life Cycle processes as a framework to lead a multi-disciplinary team through successful program execution.
- Proactively monitors, manages, and reports on execution of deliverables.
- Accountable for managing and mitigating program risks.
- Works closely with subject matter experts, development teams and functional managers to overcome challenges, issues and roadblocks.
- Leads and manages multi-disciplinary engineers, firmware, software, electrical, mechanical and validation to deliver successful programs.
- Works closely with Product Management, Operations, Quality & Go-To Market Teams to achieve Customer Acceptance and Product launch.
- Builds product ownership and understands customer use cases over time.
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of Delta-Q’s processes and policies.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Relevant education in Engineering combined with proven experience leading, planning and managing a multi-disciplined product development team for hardware-based products.
- Proven experience launching and supporting projects on time and on budget.
- Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills with the ability to persevere through challenges.
- Strong working knowledge of AIAG design and quality processes (e.g. APQP, FMEA, PPAP).
- Previous experience working in a quality focused high-volume manufacturing environment, with connection to operations and supply chain for material procurement and production scheduling.
- A good understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical and software product development processes
- Familiarity with electromechanical manufacturing processes
- Prior experience facilitating decision making within collaborative technical groups and using processes and tools to solve problems.
