Team members within this unit will work cross-functionally with other departments/units across UBC. The vision for the ISC is to provide integrated services that create an enriched user experience for UBC faculty, employees and students.The Report Developer designs, develops and executes Workday reports to support decision-making across the university. This role provides support to the ISC Reporting team by gathering information, tracking progress, conducting analyses, and other associated coordination activities of report development.
Organizational Status
The Report Developer reports to the Application Sustainment Manager within the Integrated Service Centre, while working closely with management and staff in the Finance and HR workstreams, the extended ISC team, UBC IT, and other administrative and academic units.
Work PerformedSpecific Duties:
- Provides subject matter expertise on non-complex report development including Service Centre incidents and problems related to reporting
- Reviews and responds to Service Centre requests for reports and reporting on the scope, priority, schedule, resources and status of reports
- Supports the ISC Data & Reporting team with coordination activities and contributing to the entire report development lifecycle
- Audit production reports for compliance with UBC data and reporting standards and guidelines
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of reporting portfolio dashboard a
- Work with project managers to establish work breakdown structure and project plans for HR workstream specific projects
Core Duties:- Gathers information from users and a variety of other sources, refines reports requirements, and develops simple reports with support of senior members of the team.
- Compiles information for the development of schedules and timelines to resolve break fixes, enhancements and requests related to Workday reports.
- Assists with the allocation of resources for report development according to priorities and resource availability.
- Maintains documentation and schedules and notifies ISC Managers of variances from project plans.
- May coordinate some activities as directed by the ISC Product Managers.
- Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Consequence of Error/JudgementThe Integrated Service Centre supports the transformation of the way we interact and work on all aspects of the full scope of the Student, Financial and HR systems with the goal of making it easy and efficient for the faculty, staff and students, and creating a cohesive, integrated experience for all users. This project will touch the whole campus (over 10,000 faculty and staff and over 60,000 students) and thus has a high consequence of error with a negative impact to the whole organization.The Project Coordinator plays a significant role in supporting the implementation of systems and processes. Work requires judgment and initiative. Errors could have a significant impact on the success of project delivery, subsequent effects on UBC's strategic goals and visions.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Application Sustainment Manager. the Works with within general policies and an administrative framework. Work is reviewed in terms of achievement of specific objectives. Performance is reviewed by the HR Product Manager along with feedback from project and program team members and stakeholders.
Supervision Given
Manages and coordinates the completion of assigned work in collaboration with project team members and other staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. A degree in Business, Computer Science or Management Information Systems is preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with project coordination and management is preferred. Familiarity working in a technical environment is mandatory.Experience working in an academic environment would be an asset.Proficiency will all MS Office Business Productivity Tools.Excellent interpersonal and team skills. Self-directed and willing to take initiative in relation to carrying out assigned tasks.
