YOUTH BIKE PROGRAM MENTOR – GEAR PROGRAM
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to make a difference and impact with youth in the Town of Stony Plain and Tri-Region area? If you have experience repairing bicycles and an interest in working directly with youth aged 11-17 to implement a skill-based experience, we want to hear from you!
We are currently hiring for a casual, Youth Bike Program Mentor for the GEAR program. Reporting to the Youth Services Supervisor, this position will lead the bicycle repair program and work with and encourage youth to learn the workings of bicycles while developing vital life skills including problem solving, teamwork, leadership, communication skills, as well as respect and appreciation.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma and post-secondary education in Human Services, Education, Recreation Administration Program, or related discipline combined with1-3 years of experience in the delivery of community programs and events with a focus on youth. The successful incumbent must have a certification in bike repair and maintenance as well as experience in teaching or instructing others to learn a new skill.
This is a casual position based on approximately 7-10 hours per week. The hourly pay range for this position is $30-37 based on experience. The GEAR program is expected to take place on Wednesdays or Thursdays between 4-6pm. To start ASAP.
